Sarah has been a very positive and crucial part of our mini poodle Oscar’s rehabilitation following his surgery for IVDD last May, 2025. Through rehab exercises in clinic and at home, therapies and help with herbs/supplements and a fitting for a help em up harness, Oscar may not be 100% his old active self but he is happy, enjoying his walks and living his best life a year later. Thanks Sarah

My border collie, Sky, had TPLO surgery four months ago. Just two weeks post-op, she began rehabilitation with physiotherapist Sarah MacKeigan, and I am so grateful she was recommended to me. Sarah created a customized treatment plan tailored specifically to Sky and updated it regularly as she progressed. At her four-month checkup, Sky’s veterinarian mentioned that she is doing much better than any other dog he has seen after this surgery. Thank you so much, Sarah

This review is long overdue! Sarah has been helping us with our senior dog for around a year, and the impact she's had is immeasurable. She has given us a variety of tools to help improve his overall mobility and quality of life in his senior years and has truly gone above and beyond our expectations in every single way. Our pup loves his laser and acupuncture sessions, and they truly make a positive difference in his movement and stiffness. Sarah has gone the extra mile for our boy in every sense of the word, from the extensive knowledge and rehab to the love and care she shows him every single session. It doesn't just stop at the sessions; Sarah has a Facebook group that provides valuable insights through videos, interviews, etc., and also a community of people all going through similar things. Most recently, our dog suffered a complete tear in his CCL, which Sarah recognized before we even had the chance to see our vet and have an x-ray, and because of this, we were able to start early and immediate care. Again, as she has since day one, she went above and beyond to make sure our guy received the best care during this injury, giving him the best chance to get through it. At this point, we're about a month since his injury, and we've made tremendous progress! We feel extremely fortunate to have Sarah in our corner and would highly recommend her to anyone considering physiotherapy for their pup!

Dealing with Sarah at Upward Dog has been a truly amazing experience. Our Main Guy Sky has been suffering with mobility issues after a surgery. Up until his surgery he was an active walker and loved his walks, it was heartbreaking to watch his struggle to go on even a short walk. With Sarah's help and guidance Sky is back to enjoying his walks, and under Sarah's continued care we know he has many more walks to enjoy>

Sarah is incredible. She took our dog (and us) under her wing. Our husky went down with IVDD and was paralyzed in her hind legs. Our world was shattered. We followed strict instructions from the vet college where they were unable to operate due to the extent of Iggys injury. We got in touch with Sarah around week 6 of crate rest and after a short (not so short) phone call, we felt hopeful and excited. We could immediately tell, Sarah cared for our dog instantly. We started going to physio with our dog who is very shy. Sarah made Iggy feel safe after 3 minutes of meeting her and we got to work. With a lot of very manageable steps, we were able to go from Iggy being paralyzed and having to express her bladder, to now, Iggy is walking on her own with her tail up and head held high with a whole new confidence that she didn’t have before. She can pee on her own and is thriving. As somebody who is new to physio in general, sarah makes sure to explain everything so that you can understand. Shows you exactly how to do the exercises, provides an app with videos of the exercises and follows up consistently. If you find yourself in a similar situation to us, there is no place better to reach out to them Upward Dog. Would give 10 stars if we could.

I cannot say enough good things about Sarah at upward dog! Our little Iggy was fully paralyzed in her hind end. We were told that she’d never walk again and we would always have to manually release her bladder. With Sarah’s guidance, she is now peeing all on her own, and she can walk and run!! Sarah has been instrumental in Iggy's recovery and was able to form a trusting bond with an otherwise very cautious dog. She helped coach us as paw-parents through everything and hook us up with other industry experts (nutrition, vet and puzzle dog). It is obvious how much sarah cares for the animals she treats. She is very patient and gracious with us as we find new challenges that come with caring for an injured dog. I’m so so so grateful that we found Sarah. Iggy still walks a bit funny, but her personality has fully returned and it feels like we have our dog back. ❤️

I cannot say enough good things about Sarah! She helped me and my dog pre and post op (TPLO surgery). We're about 12 weeks post op now and Ruby is back to doing things she loves again. She had a swim and hike today and is happier than she's been in a couple years. I really feel we wouldn't be as far as we are now without Sarahs help, guidance and recovery plan. Thank you so much 💓

I first called Sarah in a panic for an assessment for my boxer girl, Breah. Breah was limping for a few weeks, then all of a sudden completely walking on three legs. The vet thought Breah had a partially torn cruciate tear and the instruction from the vet was to wait to see the specialist.. 5 months later. Talked to some people who recommended I call Sarah in the meantime. Sarah has been working with Breah for a while now and I am so thankful. I can't imagine just waiting those 5 months, all while the injury getting worse. Breah is back to walking on all 4 legs, and is slowly building muscle and getting stronger while her injury heals (surgery not an option for her). I have and still am learning so much from Sarah. Everything from how dog's bodies work, how important physio is for dogs (esp. senior, just like senior people), signs of pain, exercises to do at home, and so many great resources for nutrition, supplements, massage, rehab tools, etc. Also have to mention her FB support group where she interviews some incredibly knowledgeable people on a wide range of topics.. some of which are very moving! Get the Kleenex out. Breah can be reactive with strangers sometimes (she needs her bubble space at times) but with Sarah, she was comfortable almost immediately. She now will even snooze through some laser treatments during appointments and starts whining in the car when getting closer to Sarah's. Since the injury, there has been ups and downs, but I've also realized it's not a straight road to recovery and Sarah is there to help us through it. Sarah will even check in with how I'M doing, the human, because she has been through things with her own dog so she knows the feelings we are going through on a more extreme level. Her motto is "it's not over, it's just different" and she is so right. She's basically a physio/massage/friend/life coach for me at this point.. whether she knows it or not (haha)! Can not recommend her enough.

I met Sarah at the Dog Expo this year. I was impressed by her willingness to listen to my doubts, concerns, and past experiences. All of these things played a huge role in my working with Sarah. Sarah listened to all of my concerns about canine body language and stress. I was apprehensive given my past history with vets, but she understood that. When Sarah and I did our first session with my male schnauzer, I was blown away at how she handled herself around him, how she moved around him, and how incredibly gentle she was with him. I immediately signed up for a senior dog sessions for my dogs. Since then we have had a couple of sessions with her (for both dogs). Sarah has the knowledge and the know how to handle a variety of physical issues with my dogs. Instead of harping on about exercises and having to do them, she helps integrate them into our lifestyle. She makes our lifestyle work with the exercises and strengthening that needs to be done for both senior dogs. Sarah is compassionate, knowledgeable and has a wonderful understanding about dogs and canine body language. She is there for questions after sessions and more then willing to answer any questions or concerns. We could all learn something from her; whether it be the physical needs of our dogs OR how to move and read our dogs. Sarah is amazing. You won't regret having her work with you and your dogs. THANK YOU Sarah for everything. You rock!

Shortly after rescuing Lucy, our Newfoundland, we discovered that there was a very good chance that she would require an invasive surgery, TPLO. To avoid this we researched alternative methods to ease Lucy's discomfort and made changes to both her diet and her activity level, but that wasn't quite enough. We stumbled upon the Upward Dog Rehab booth at the Dog Expo and after chatting with Sarah we knew this was something we wanted to try for our Lucy. Over the past few months of working with Sarah, she has provided in-home visits, hands on care, advice, and introduced progressive exercises that have strengthened Lucy's joints, increased her activity levels and made her a happy and healthier dog. Three months ago Lucy would go on a 10 minute walk and by the end of her walk she would be slow and her hind leg would be dragging a bit; now Lucy goes for longer walks twice a day and wants to keep going - to the point where she is trotting and pulling us along. She does not drag her leg and she even gets the zoomies occasionally and has no limping or discomfort afterwards. This could not have been possible without Upward Dog Rehab and we are so appreciative of everything Sarah has done for Lucy. We cannot thank you enough!
