“Taken to UofA emergency by ambulance. Received excellent care from all nurses,doctors and technicians. Care in unit A47 in the Mazanowski wing of the hospital was most excellent! I will never forget all these amazing people! Thanks to all!”

“Once I was in, the nurses and doctors were very professional and super kind. I really appreciate Dr. Michael Kim and Dr. Niloy Nath for their work and support. The procedure and after care provided here is unmatched. Once I was scheduled for service, every nurse was very helpful and even other doctors or any other medical staff passing by tried to help me with anything I needed. I thank every nurse involved for their support and service.”

“Where does all the money go from the charities and fundraisers? Cant soend a couple hundred to upgrade the emergency room? They really need to fix the TV's in the emergency waiting area. It's depressing to look at with one channel on static wave and the other 2 broken. Waited over 15 hours just be back in line again. I feel they are very overwhelmed and staff is doing their best but it's still not enough to get to patients. Security is much better, but what can they do to help more? Nothing really. Do better U of A! Not asking for much”

“Medical Neglect / Delayed Care Arrived at the hospital suffering from suspected heat stroke/sunstroke. Waited for hours without receiving meaningful medical treatment. No IV fluids, hydration support, or timely medical intervention despite visible symptoms. Continued vomiting and worsening dehydration while waiting. Failure to Respond to Medical Distress Staff allegedly observed severe symptoms without urgent intervention. You state you became so dehydrated your legs gave out and you collapsed. You feel your worsening condition was ignored despite obvious physical distress. Poor Patient Treatment You describe staff as rude, dismissive, and lacking empathy. You felt treated like a problem rather than a patient needing help. You perceived bias and disrespect from staff and security personnel. Inadequate Support During Vomiting/Nausea You requested assistance for nausea/vomiting and felt your needs were ignored. You describe vomiting while waiting and not receiving appropriate support. Security / Removal Concerns Security was called after you collapsed. You state you were removed from the hospital while severely dehydrated and in medical distress. You believe the response prioritized removal over medical care. Professional Conduct Concerns You believe staff spent time socializing instead of responding to patients. You felt there was a lack of urgency, compassion, and professionalism throughout the experience. Emotional & Psychological Impact You describe the experience as traumatic and humiliating. You left feeling disgusted, unsafe, unheard, and unwilling to return to the hospital in the future. The experience damaged your trust in the healthcare system.”

“I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the poor level of service and treatment within the Emergency Department. It has been observed that the treatment of patients and visitors falls short of the required standard, lacking professionalism and empathy. Furthermore, there are unacceptable behaviors and mistreatment of individuals, in addition to a general lack of discipline (recklessness/negligence) in the performance of medical and administrative duties. The Emergency Department is meant to be a haven for critical cases requiring urgent care and humane treatment in recognition of their health conditions. The current situation contradicts the hospital's medical and humanitarian mission. Therefore, I urge you to launch an investigation into this matter and monitor the performance of staff and medical personnel to ensure improved service quality and respectful treatment for all.”

“I want to share my heartfelt thanks to the University of Alberta Hospital. After being diagnosed with a stroke at Sturgeon Community Hospital in February, I was transferred to the Neurology Ward at the U of A. My experience was truly excellent. The doctors were incredibly helpful and professional, and the entire nursing staff was friendly and attentive. They took wonderful care of me during my stay. The hospital itself is great, but it is the people the staff and the doctors who make it special with their kindness and expertise. I am so happy and grateful for the care I received. Thank you for helping me through my recovery!”

“I want to start this review off by saying that, if you or anyone you know is looking for a hospital AVOID THIS ONE. My grandfather went to this hospital for a Hip replacement surgery, which went well and all is good now thankfully, but after the surgery he was kept there for 2 weeks where Physiotherapy didn't do their job, they would come to his room. Introduce themselves, say what they are there for that day, leave the room and not come back for a while. He was transferred against his will to the Leduc Community Hospital, he was not told of his right to refuse against medical advice. Only was it when he got out of that hospital was there improvement. Now for my experience it was bad, I went to visit him and didn't know the room number, so I went to the ER where he was last, The Security booth tells me that I have to go to the Nurse station, I tell them the name, they tell me a completely different last name. I get my grandma on the phone to help out with them and they refuse to talk to her, on another incident the hospital was trying to do something that they had no right to do, so I go there and I ask to see the head nurse in the unit he was located. I than go off on her and tell her how it is, I am than silenced like a nobody and told to let the patient voice his concerns completely ignoring the fact of who I am to said patient. As a whole this hospital is a joke, do some staff care about the patients? Yes, is it a lot or a common thing? No, I would honestly avoid this hospital at all costs is you can.”

“Visited the University of Alberta Hospital for training and was genuinely impressed. The building itself is massive, but what really stands out is the design—there’s a strong architectural and artistic touch that makes the space feel more like a modern shopping complex than a typical hospital. The open concept is especially striking, with clear views from the lower levels all the way up to the top floors. There’s also a strong academic and training environment here, with many residents and nursing students actively learning and working. It really feels like a place that supports growth and development across all levels of healthcare. Overall, a very dynamic and well-designed facility. Albertans are fortunate to have access to a hospital like this.”

“University of Alberta Health Services is a very good hospital 🏥. The Department of Urology, Inpatient Unit, 3rd Floor (3E), has very friendly nurses. They provide good facilities and are very helpful. All medical supplies are available. The hospital rooms, washrooms, and guest waiting areas are very neat and clean. Overall, my experience was very good. I just have one comment about the doctors: the patient was admitted early, but the operation was done after two days please kindly my suggestion comments please kindly do every procedure perfectly time once patient admitted the hospital …… Apart from this, the doctors’ procedures were well managed, and everything else was excellent. Great experience 😊”

“The most fabulous Hospital I have ever been in! Its towering look astonished me because I never in my life had seen such a huge and highly decorated Hospital. I'm from 3rd world country and as soon as my foot stepped inside I felt like I ended up in cyberpunk. I wish I could live in there. It feels overwhelmingly futuristic and I love it! The only paintings in the Hospitals in my country were patterns of falling out paint on the walls.”
