“I have been practising as a family doctor for more than 40 years. I have no hesitation in referring my patience and family members to physiotherapist Elaine Ruiz. Elaine is very expertise in her practice of physiotherapy. I myself have gone on several occasions. Elaine his hands on and stays with her client during the entire session. She also uses laser therapy as necessary. My cousin, Ryan, who is mildly developmentally handicapped, complained about seven years ago of right knee pain. His uncle a physician referred him to an orthopaedic surgeon with x-rays of the right knee and clinical consultation. Nothing abnormal was found. I encouraged his mother to see Elaine. Elaine examined Ryan with a full assessment and found and abnormal neurological sign. She felt that his problem was related to something either in the spinal cord or the brain and recommended that he be seen by a neurologist and that he really did not need physiotherapy. Subsequently his uncle spoke with a colleague and friend who was a neurologist he recommended that Ryan go immediately to Sunnybrook Hospital emergency. Investigation revealed a tumour in the mid thoracic spine. He was subsequently operated on and fortunately the tumour was benign and his knee pain disappeared. Elaine has special expertise in treating patients with neurological abnormalities. She is particularly interested in temporal mandibular dysfunction. As well, she would like to help those patients that had cancer in the neck area who subsequently had surgery or radiation therapy. Some of these patients had difficulty talking and or swallowing following their cancer treatment. She has added to her clinic of speech therapy pathologist so that they both can help the rehabilitation of these patients. I know that in the past she has helped several patients with neurological problems learn how to speak again. Her practice is located at the border between Mississauga and Oakville. “I met Patrícia when my baby was 4 months old and going through intense crying episodes. My daughter had undergone a delicate surgery shortly after birth, and during the first assessment Patrícia noticed tension around the scar area that was affecting her movements. After just the first session, we already noticed a huge difference: she started moving her right arm better, turning her neck to both sides, sleeping better, and becoming much calmer. Today, at 13 months old, she has had no motor delays and is developing beautifully. I’m incredibly grateful for Patrícia’s care, attention, and professionalism. “Clara has been seeing Patrícia since she was just 15 days old, and I couldn’t be happier with the care she receives. Patrícia is simply wonderful! “I’ve been seeing Elaine for physiotherapy for quite some time now and was introduced to her through my wife. It has truly been a pleasure getting to know Elaine and her wonderful team. My wife later encouraged me to see Patricia for massage therapy, and since then I’ve felt incredibly fortunate to have both of them helping me stay on top of my health and well-being. Elaine is very pleasant and professional, and I really appreciate how accurately she diagnosed my issues and helped improve my movement. Recently, I’ve been seeing both Elaine and Patricia for ongoing shoulder pain, which has been a major challenge for me. Elaine treats my pain slowly and carefully, using mostly hands-on techniques rather than relying heavily on machines, which has helped tremendously.
