“Of course, the first thing you need to do BEFORE GOING THERE is to check the opening days and hours. I arrived around 10 AM on a day that the service was open for a passport renewal. I made sure all the required documents were in my possession, together with the recent passport photo. I was served after a 6 minute wait by a very polite and efficient employee. All was in order and after payment of the fee, left within 20 minutes. A pleasant experience!”Read moreShow less

“The online booking system doesn't work very well and there is no way to call the office to talk to someone face to face. The hours are limited and it is hard to get in. All in all bad experience.”

“I was pleased to learn that the Service Canada office could process passport applications. Rather than drive 40 minutes to the Nelson office, I drove 25 minutes to the Trail office. I arrived at 11:30 am, only to be told that, because the one employee there was working with a customer, and that she would be closing the office at noon for one hour for lunch, that I would have to come back at 1:00 pm. I was annoyed that I would have to hang around downtown Trail for 1 1/2 hours, after driving for 25 minutes. The response I was given, after expressing my surprise and displeasure (respectfully) was that she was surprised that I was annoyed! And she was unapologetic, telling me that's the way it is. I said I guess I should have called so I didn't waste my time, to which she said she wouldn't have answered because she's been busy. Drove home, after wasting a hour of my time, passport renewal applications still in hand. Guess I'll be driving to Nelson after all.”Read moreShow less

“Knowledgeable helpful staff got me through a difficult passport application (old passport expired and lost, my Govt photo ID had expired too). Jackie deserves 5+ stars for helping me into her lunch hour... thanks! But their hours are awkward... closed Monday and Friday and lunch hour, I think. Maybe they need more staff.”Read moreShow less

“Hours are all over the place. Showed up after the lunch period was over and doors were locked for another 15 minutes. Booked an appointment and was completely ignored in favour of a first come first serve system. Was told that we are to notify them that we booked an appointment. Isn’t that what booking an appointment does? Very rude. If you can get to Nelson, use that service centre.”Read moreShow less

“After finally finding the place. Second time I've been there. Second time I've walked away with zero assistance. Says they're closed between 12:00 and 1:00. I arrived at approximately 10 minutes before noon. The door was locked! When I knocked, no one answered. First time I went they turned me away because I had no photo ID (driver's license). Didn't know that that was a requirement for getting a passport!”Read moreShow less

“I just renewed my passport in the office in Trail. The two employees were very helpful & polite & efficient. The only con is that there is no sign on the outside of the building, so even though I had the address it was a little hard to find the office.”
