“As a Registered Dental Hygienist, work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are unfortunately part of the profession. We spend hours in static, awkward postures while trying to provide the best care possible for our patients. Tight neck and shoulders, upper back pain, sore hips, forearm and wrist tension… it all adds up. Like many healthcare professionals, I became really good at taking care of everyone else, but not myself 🤣 I actually started seeing Yukiko before she opened Toki Wellness, and during the months I wasn’t able to see her, I genuinely felt like my body was slowly disintegrating with every shift I worked. I didn’t realize just how much of a difference her treatments made until I had to go without them. Now that she’s opened Toki Wellness, I’m honestly so happy to have her back. The location itself deserves a mention too. The Suite House is beautiful. Every practitioner has their own private suite, which makes the entire experience feel peaceful, quiet, and personalized instead of feeling like you’re in a busy shared clinic. The entire space is modern, spotless, and incredibly welcoming. I’ve had a combination of full body massage, facial massage, and dry head spa treatments with Yukiko, and no two sessions have ever been exactly the same. She doesn’t follow a routine or a script. She takes the time to assess how you’re feeling that day and customizes every treatment to what your body actually needs. What impressed me most from my very first visit was how intentional every movement felt. I’m actually a very flinchy person and had never had a professional massage before meeting Yukiko, so I was nervous about feeling vulnerable or startled. Instead, every movement was deliberate, confident, and reassuring. I never once felt caught off guard. I always felt comfortable, respected, and completely at ease. The pressure is firm (which I personally love), but never careless. It’s the kind of treatment where you can tell she’s constantly listening to your body rather than simply following a routine. The little details make the experience even more special. The room is warm and calming, the décor is beautiful, there are plants throughout the space, water and individually wrapped snacks are thoughtfully provided, and I absolutely LOVE the hot towel compresses. They’re honestly one of my favourite parts of every visit. By the end of each session, the only way I can describe it is that it feels like my entire body has been given one giant, warm, firm hug. As an RDH, I always remind my patients that prevention is easier than treatment.
