Beautiful hotel in a great location when visiting the County. We stayed two nights and loved it!! Rooms are a little small but it’s an older hotel that has been completely modernized so room size can be an issue. The best features about this place is the fabulous food in the dining room and the amazing bartender, HAILEY, in the lobby bar. She had a delightful personality and made excellent drinks. Hailey truly made our visit memorable!!

We didn't stay at this hotel, but we came to The Royal restaurant every day over the course of our five-day stay in Prince Edward County over the August Civic holiday long weekend. We loved all the food. It was very flavourful and was made with fresh ingredients. The service was ok. Some servers were better than others. The pizzas were our favourite. We tried every pizza on the menu – Margherita, Genoa, Funghi, N'duja. This was our first time trying traditional Italian pizza and we loved it! Everything was fresh, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. We also tried other dishes like the Polenta Frites and Gnocchi and we loved those as well. We tried various desserts including the Gelato, Summer Crumble, and the Chocolate Cake. My wife liked the Gelato and Summer Crumble, but they were too tart for me. We both loved the chocolate cake. We ordered the chocolate cake on two separate days, and it was a little dense when ordered it for dinner, but it was perfect, fluffy and moist when we ordered it for brunch. We also ordered the Croque Madame and Steak and Eggs with fries from the brunch menu. The Croque Madame was done perfectly, the fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium and had a smoky charred crust. The service is the only reason that I'm giving The Royal four stars instead of five. Some servers were very attentive and very pleasant to deal. They were very enthusiastic about explaining the menu and they seemed like lovely people who really loved their jobs. However, other servers were not as attentive and would forget to bring us cutlery or the dessert menu, even after we asked. The guy who worked at the front desk (with the vest and jeans) always seemed cold. There was also one weird incident where one of the servers (the brown girl) asked us if we wanted hot sauce with our Margherita pizza. Not sure what that was about, but felt like it might be racial profiling, since we are brown. Overall the food was excellent, and this restaurant is truly the gem of Prince Edward County. However, the service could be better.

Our stay at the Royal Hotel in Prince Edward County was nothing short of exceptional. We were traveling with our service dog, Kratos, and from the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make all of us feel welcome. They had a dog bed, food and water bowls waiting in our room, along with a few treats for Kratos. It was such a thoughtful touch and immediately set the tone for our stay. Earlier that day, I had proposed to my girlfriend, and to our surprise, the hotel congratulated us with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine waiting in our room. It was an incredibly kind gesture that made an already unforgettable day even more special. Dinner was the highlight of an already amazing experience. The beef tartare was easily one of the best I’ve had in years—perfectly seasoned, beautifully balanced, and absolutely delicious. The fish entrée completely stole the show. It was cooked flawlessly, but the real star was the sauce. I honestly could have drank a pint of it. The subtle hint of tarragon paired with the fish so perfectly that every bite was better than the last. The service throughout the evening was warm, attentive, and genuinely heartfelt. The team made us feel celebrated without ever being overbearing, and they played a huge part in making such an important milestone in our lives even more memorable. I can’t recommend the Royal Hotel enough. It’s a wonderful place to stay, but even if you aren’t spending the night, make a reservation for dinner—you won’t regret it.

Although we had dined several times there since it opened, last weekend was our 2nd time staying at The Royal and it was truly ROYAL! We cannot stop thinking about how wonderful it was. The room was spacious, gorgeous, modern, very well appointed, stunning bathroom and the hugest bath towels! The pool is perfect, with the JETS that add a special touch for your enjoyment and the wonderful ice-filled coolers provided for each cot. We also thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast....delicious food and fabulous service. Reservation manager Rachel, Nicole and Jay at the front desk were so attentive and friendly, and did everything to make sure all our needs were being well-looked after. We will be going back again next month and can't wait! We remain LOYAL to THE ROYAL!!!

While we didn't stay at the hotel itself, we did stop in for drinks at the lobby bar. Our first impression was that the space felt very modern, but also somewhat cold and lacking the character and charm that reflects the history of the building and the community. As someone who grew up in the County, I was hoping for a stronger connection to the area's heritage. The cocktail menu was fairly limited, although the bartender was friendly and accommodating, making me a spicy margarita that wasn't listed on the menu. The drink was excellent. What took away from the experience was the atmosphere. During our visit, staff members were sitting at the bar having loud conversations about work. It felt inappropriate for a guest space and made it difficult to relax and enjoy the experience. The final surprise came with the bill—my margarita was $17. While I understand premium pricing, it felt excessive given the overall experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to convince us to return. If I'm paying Toronto prices, I'd rather be in Toronto.

While we were only at the hotel for one night, it was a great experience. The staff were all very attentive and the property well maintained. While the rooms are a bit on the small side, they didn’t feel small and I was impressed with how quiet they were. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner and drinks later in the evening. There are lots of common spaces and the decor was a great mix of comfort and cool.

The Royal family is fantastic. They took care of me when I first got to the county as a staff member who is now visiting as a guest and I can say they do not disappoint. The team is extravagant and practices high levels of professionalism and character. I highly recommend the Royal Hotel for any special occasions or even if you just need a night away. From front desk to housekeeping and everything in between, you won't find more genuine people to assist you for a night away. The food is excellent thanks to the kitchen and dining staff. If you want excellence in guest experiences and a family friendly environment, I would recommend coming here to have the full experience. I will be back soon! Cheers

Delightful stay at the Royal. Rooms are lovely, bright well decorated and comfortable. The restaurant was very good. The steak and fish meals were well prepared and very tasteful. This is the third time we’ve been to the Royal from Burlington Ontario and we will continue to return. Thank you to the staff for such a friendly warm and welcoming stay

We made a reservation for dinner while on a weekend getaway in the county. The service was phenomenal and the food was even better! We enjoyed the Royal Bread box which was so fresh and good! We both had the steak frites which was cooked to perfection and very tender. The herb butter was also so delicious. We finished it off with gelato and cannoli which was the perfect way to top of a fantastic meal. All of the wait staff were great and we were asked how things were multiple times by multiple people throughout our seating. Definitely highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back.

We had a lovely stay at the Royal Hotel. The room was so comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. We had a magnificent dinner at the restaurant and had great help choosing the perfect wine. Our spa experience ( facial and massage) was excellent. Superior treatments to many larger spas I have been too. We will come again.
