I don’t recommend visiting this place during flu season. Unlike other healthcare settings, the owner, Eileen Christie, does not allow patients to cancel appointments when they become ill, and none of the RMTs wear masks. My 72‑year‑old mother and I had been attending The Cottage weekly for several months. She has chronic back pain, and I need regular massage therapy due to the disability that causes severe muscle stiffness. Because appointments are difficult to book in advance, I often saw different RMTs, all of whom were consistently professional, caring, and kind. Unfortunately, after a medical trip to Toronto, where I had to visit a rehabilitation clinic for injections, both my mother and I became sick with a virus. I kept my own massage appointment in the morning because my muscles were painful, but I was worried about exposing my therapist, Niki. After the session, I asked whether my mother’s appointment for the next afternoon could be cancelled, as she was feeling even worse. Niki explained that cancellations due to illness were against policy. I told her that in that case my mother would keep her appointment. Niki later kindly sent me a text to let me know that she had cancelled the appointment and waived the cancellation fee. I think she didn't want to catch the virus. That evening, however, I received an unexpectedly harsh email from Eileen informing me that all of our future appointments had been cancelled and we should look for another place for treatment. I also noticed that the fee for my own visit had been changed to a no‑show fee in my account, which made me concerned that in this way Eileen decided to punish Niki and she might not be paid for the treatment she provided. This was not the first time I felt Eileen prioritized revenue over patient care. When I needed documentation for a government application, Eileen was the only clinic owner—out of nine I contacted—who required a $130 payment for a basic confirmation of treatment I was receiving in the Cottage. While it is not wrong for a business to charge for administrative services, I believe a healthcare provider has a responsibility to protect the wellbeing of both patients and staff. Strict no‑cancellation rules during illness and the absence of masking create health risks. For these reasons, I intend to file a formal complaint with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in the hope that it leads to safer practices.

Amazing service every time I go. Always walk away feeling relaxed and always feel welcomed when I step through the doors for my appointment.

I had a 75min indie head massage with Eileen and it was the best massage I have ever had in my life. She focused on my back, scalp, arms and face. She’s amazing! I ended up falling asleep through the treatment. I’m already booking my next appointment because I can’t wait any longer to have this done again. Highly recommended giving this a try!

The RMTs are not accepting any new clients. I only found this out after numerous phone calls and leaving messages because no one would answer the phone or return my call. I think it would be smart to include that on your website so people don’t waste their time trying to reach you to book an appointment.

I love the treatments I receive at The Cottage! Highly skilled. Also, it’s truly cottage-y -- the moment I set foot into the place my stress goes down a notch or two. I appreciate the the cozy and thoughtful little touches. Thank you!

The Cottage is a lovely space, booking is easy, parking is good, and it's a great experience all-round. Eileen is a fantastic RMT. Her treatments make me feel relaxed, immediately increase mobility and provide relief, and I've seen positive, lasting changes to problem areas. She's also very approachable and committed to her clients - it's always been easy to talk to her if any issues come up, and she patiently and knowledgeably answers my myriad questions. I trust that she will always work hard to provide the best treatment for me. While I haven't yet had an appointment with Sophie, I trust Eileen's instincts and knowledge, so I'm sure Sophie is amazing as well!

Eileen and Sophie are both excellent RMTs. Eileen helped keep me mobile through both of my pregnancies! The Cottage is decorated beautifully and you instantly feel calm and relaxed in the setting. I had my first massage with Sophie recently and she provided an amazing massage and was super professional and helped me feel at ease. There is ample parking and an accessible entrance. Being able to book online is convenient and I appreciate the text reminders. The space is clean and I feel confident in their covid precautions. Both Eileen and Sophie seem to understand when you want either a quiet massage or a chit chat, which is very appreciated. Definitely recommend The Cottage RMT!

Eileen is an RMT with magic hands!! After months and months of recovery after surgeries, my shoulder has been in passive-constant pain. She knows how to identify trouble-areas in your muscles and joints and works hard to make sure you feel brand new when you leave! After being to other massage therapists, chiropractics, and physio, I certainly felt the very best leaving The Cottage. 10/10, will be back as regularly as possible!
