She gave me the best haircut of my life in the bathroom, while we were crossing the legendary and extremely rough Drake Passage. “If you ever find yourself somewhere between civilization and penguin parliament, being tossed around by the Drake Passage like a rogue sock in a washing machine… you’ll want Michelle with a pair of clippers in hand. Michelle was my personal barber on our Antarctica cruise, and somehow, against all odds (and physics), she delivered one of the cleanest beard trims I’ve ever had while the ship was actively trying to re-enact a maritime rollercoaster. I’m fairly certain my face moved more than the scissors did, which makes the result even more impressive. Not only is she incredibly skilled, but she brings a calm, steady energy that makes you forget you’re in the middle of the most turbulent waters on Earth. It’s one thing to give a great haircut. It’s another to do it mid-swell and still have it come out perfectly symmetrical. If there were an Olympic event for barbering under extreme conditions, Michelle would take gold without breaking a sweat. 10/10.
