Very disappointing experience at El Convento Rico on May 8th. We were told there was no coat check, so we left our jackets on a chair for a few minutes while dancing. Security Staff later told us they saw people take them but did nothing to stop them. By the time we found out, the people had already left. The manager blamed us for leaving our jackets and refused even a refund, taking no responsibility despite staff witnessing the situation. Poor service and lack of security — be careful bringing your belongings here. Never come here.

The music here is old school even the Latin music is out dated . I haven’t been here In a long time and the music is terrible can’t even request a song the dj will Ignore you . They force you to put your jacket in coat check and pay for it even if it’s a light jacket . The cover is 20 bucks not even worth it for such a boring place with bad customer service . The show has gone down hill . Don’t waste your time or money coming here trust me . I won’t be coming back that’s for sure.

Terrible. Skip this spot and head to crews and tangos / church street if you’re looking for a drag show and fun night out. The queens were great but the establishment itself was the most poorly run club I have ever come across. I physically came to the location the night before to pick out my booth for an event the next day (group of 15). Which they were very accommodating and I was happy and content with everything discussed. But Upon arrival the next day there was a huge amount of confusion starting at the door. Our booth was given away without us being told to another group and we were moved. Everything that was promised was not set up. The most insane thing I’ve even had to deal with was when 2 people in my group were double charged for entry. I had prepaid for everyone to get in and 2 people were charged at the door. When they explained what happened to the door girl she refused to give them a refund BUT INSTEAD gave them 2 door tickets and told them to go OUTSIDE and SELL them to someone outside. Yes. You read that right. Most bizarre experience. I had to speak to management (who was also incompetent beyond words) TWICE to finally get their money back. Place is just a mess. Staff and management seemed to have a disconnect and no one knew what was going on. If we were just told right at entry what the changes were and where we were going many altercations could have been avoided. The one bartender Frank seemed to be the only one with more than one brain cell in that place and was sympathetic to our situation. So shout out to him but otherwise… as I said skip the head ache and head to church street.

The music is very loud and hearing the performers speaking was very difficult. We definitely strained our voices trying to talk to each other and order drinks. Aside from the volume, the venue seemed good and the performers were fun. Drink prices seemed good too.

I used to love going to Rico's it used to be full packed and drag shows on a Friday nights and Saturday nights no they only have shows on Saturdays and Friday it is dead in there. Admission on a dead Friday night is $15

Wow! All I can say is this... Such a safe place for everyone to just come out and celebrate. Music was amazing, place was clean and the crowd was beautiful♡ More women to men ratio. Tonnes of room to just bust out those Latin moves. Would definately recommend this place for a group celebration♡

I would say that my experience was a solid 4 stars. I booked a booth for around $550 which got me a premium bottle I chose patron and mixes as well as booth service. The booth service thought out the night was fine but when I got there it took them almost 45 mins to set my booth up which was awkward as my group was there waiting for drinks. The other frustrating thing was that I was trying to get in touch with management for an entire week before my reservation to confirm if I could bring balloons/cupcakes in as it was my birthday, I called 6 times, left 3 voice mails, and messaged the IG account and no one got back to me. For the amount of $$ paid that night this was disappointing. The music and drag show were great as always which is why I came back. Demographic of people here is totally weird, I would say 70% girls/gays then 30% men on the prowl. At the end of the night a HUGE fight broke out and one guy was literally dragged out of the bar and ambulances had to be called. Realistically this isn’t the establishments fault but reflective of the people you might run into here.

This place is a lot of fun. Always starts off with a lot of women. The men usually show up later.... There is a fun drag show that happens on saturday nights. That's the highlight of the evening. And then the party starts rolling after that. This is a great place to end your night. Because this place doesn't get jumping until after 1130 pm. That being said, drinks are very cheap compared to other places in the city so if you want to start your evening here you'll be making your own party, but it will be affordable. There's mostly latin music played all night long.So if you're not into latin music, don't go here. I have attended this place for many years it hasn't changed.

This club had a great atmosphere for a drag show. The security was fun and friendly and added to the positive space. The music here is pretty mid. The energy was quite low. There was also a lot of straight men at this club who stood to the side and just stood there watching the girls taking away from the vibe and the safe space. There are also a disproportionate amount of straight girls who did not respect the space. Cover was $15 and seemed a bit expensive for what they offered
