The decision my sister and I made to move our 89 year old mom with Alzheimers into assisted living was a very difficult one. We knew the time had come, but it was still an incredibly hard thing to do. We were absolutely thrilled that she got into SLL. Being new to the area, I wasn't overly familiar with it. I was incredibly impressed by the cleanliness of the lodge. Mom's room is very spacious and the staff are absolutely incredible. The meals look and sound delicious. Mom is just loving her new "digs" and our family feels so relived to know that she's being so well cared for.

This is a retirement home for people that need 24 7 care. The staff are very caring and look out for the best interests of the residents. Meals are cooked in-house. It is in co-operation with the city of Brockville.

For the third time since last June my mother has had a handmade Afghan taken even though she has a sign in her room not to. The first two have vanished. At this point they don’t even have the courtesy to call us back. Not happy with them.

The Long Term Care facility is located on the St. Lawrence river. The rooms are spacious and clean. All floor staff care, take the time to help their residents and take pride in their work. There are many activities for the residents to participate in and are encouraged to join activities. I’m recommending this facility if your loved one is independent. The care is good but as stated by the resident I was looking after, “it’s a nice place, I like it here, but it’s not like home”. There’s something odd with the management. I’m not sure what’s going on there. The only advice I have is, if their door isn’t open, they are not open to questions and they don’t make you feel welcome then look at other residential care facilities. Then you will have a baseline of how all employees behave. See if the facility asks for the residents wishes regarding visitation of friends and family. See if they ask both the resident and the Power of Attorney or just the Power of Attorney. Make sure your POA is representing the resident and not themselves. Prior to selecting a Long term facility: for the resident: Choose Power of Attorney’s wisely and not out of pressure from family. Make sure you have a lawyer that will represent your best interests. Should your POA not be acting on tasks for your behalf, you will need representation to change your POA.

Visited a Resident today who was celebrating her birthday. The staff on third floor , Cedar Lodge were so generous and caring to her. These Residents are so very fortunate to have such wonderful caregivers.

St.lawrence lodge is a beautiful seniors care home built on the shore overlooking the St. Lawrence river. The nurses and personal care aides are really helpful and it's evident they are not just working for a pay check. The downside is that the government support is not enough to ensure the care for those with higher needs as there is minimal staff at certain times. If your loved one is fairly independent and has family who are involved and will be visiting and/or taking them out then this may be the place for them. If they need more support it are less then independent I might suggest looking elsewhere. Not because of the service which is excellent, but because of the financial support if the government that keeps them running as a skeleton staff.

My mother is well cared for however due to lack of staff she often has to wait for her bell to be answered..other than that, a clean friendly place where the staff works very hard
