“I'm Back... Surgery was in June of 2025. Re-attached tendon in right shoulder. Everyone said it would take a long time to recover and of course like all surgeries - No guarantees. J.R. worked with me on the recovery. I can say it was gruelling at the beginning and took a lot of self discipline but with his expert guidance My shoulder is better than it has been in over 5 years ! Many thanks to J.R. and all the staff at Skill Builders in Barrie. Time for an update... 5 years later and I had surgery on my other shoulder :( After my excellent experience with J.R. for my left shoulder I went back for post surgery therapy for my right shoulder. I have to stop falling !!! His care and attention to detail has been invaluable. I am making headway but still have a long way to go before I regain full use of the arm. I am so thrilled that I have such a caring professional available to help me with my recovery ! I went to Skill Builders to see J.R. for help with my left shoulder. After a few sessions working on the issues as presented by my doctor J.R. found the pain actually originated from a separate problem and now I am 80% pain free. We are still working on healing the original injury, but his open mind and willingness to listen allowed him to customize the treatment specifically to me. Thank You !!!!”Read moreShow less

“I feel SO much better only a couple of hours of being treated. If your thinking of calling, JUST DO IT I honestly feel a little dumb for not going in over 3 years ago... But I felt I could justify what I was experiencing. The worst thing that can happen is maybe they cant help, but then you've crossed a bunch of things off your list. I was expecting everything to be explained by everything else going on with me... It wasn't Please just go! Don't be stubborn like me, you are worth it...”Read moreShow less

“We had an appointment for my mom today with JR. We were there for her dizziness and vertigo diagnosis from a doctor. I can't even put into words the amount of attention this man gave. His patience, his knowledge, his determination and professionalism. I can't thank him enough for his time. Over and above! Wish we would have seen him a long time ago, instead of a doctor. Thank you to the staff at the front desk. Very professional both when the appointment was booked over the phone and while we were there today.”Read moreShow less

“I had my first ever bout and hospital visit for severe dizziness a month ago and was referred to Skill Builders. I met Jordan whose treating me and can't say enough. I've been treated less like a patient and more like a partner in the process. I know everyone wants a "fix" but Jordan educated me, involved me and worked with me honestly without promises or expectations. A process that educates, involves and helps a patient understand gives confidence and hope as a "fix" or managing the issue is worked towards. This is a breath of fresh air in today's healthcare system and wanted to give this review in hopes it helps others seek help. Thanks Jordan for your help, you've been incredible.”Read moreShow less

“My experience with Skillbuilders Rehab was frustrating and felt like a poor use of time and money ($700). I was referred here for cognitive and road tests after a stroke. I have only left-sided weakness and no cognitive impairments. Before I even began any testing, the Occupational Therapist told me I would need adaptive equipment (a steering knob), driving lessons, and a reassessment—based solely on my physical presentation. This was extremely discouraging and made the outcome feel predetermined. Despite this, I went ahead with both tests. I passed the cognitive portion without issue. During the road test, I quickly adapted to the steering knob and safely completed a full 45-minute drive, including residential roads, multi-lane streets, and highways. The driving instructor gave positive feedback and noted no concerns about my use of the adaptive equipment. The final report described me as “near fully proficient” with “good defensive driver skills.” Yet I was still told I would need at least one lesson and a reassessment. The justification provided later was that this is standard protocol for medically suspended drivers, regardless of actual performance—something I wish had been made clear at the time of booking, not moments before the test began. This process felt rigid and impersonal, and I was not evaluated as an individual. If all medically suspended drivers must follow the same multi-step path, then that should be communicated upfront, so people can make informed decisions before spending hundreds of dollars. I would not recommend Skillbuilders if you’re looking for a personalized, transparent driving assessment process.”Read moreShow less

“The receptionist is very helpful, patient and welcoming. The physiotherapist Barb Forest is very thorough with her care, providing me verbal guidance as well as physical worksheets and information after I mentioned I may have difficulty remembering. When I was confused about certain processes, they helped me clear them up and find solutions quickly. I had a great experience with them.”Read moreShow less
