Was in Scarborough general as a referral. I was not impressed by lack of cleanliness and by the staff.

My husband is at Scarborough Grace at Birchmount. My goodness he has Dementia. I came in on Friday at 3pm and he was not showered from Thursday. Came in on Saturday same thing. On Sunday I was not feeling 100 percent so I stayed home. Came in on Monday and he was still in the same clothes I left him in on Saturday. He was not showered nor given peri no a change of clothes, nor brush his teeth. Isn’t it a health care facility? Is this how our hospitals are operating now? Someone needs to look into this and the welfare of the patients especially when they are in those locked unit with dementia and cannot remember anything. He has dementia for crying out loud. He is not mentally unstable. Why are they treating him like if he unstable. He forgets! He doesn’t remember the last time he ate or drink far less shower. They took out a wet diaper on him and placed it on the floor in his room, the cleaner came by and left it the same place. I told her about it and she gave me attitude. It took the nurse to come remove it and she said the cleaner gave her attitude as well.

Ceci perturbe toutes mes planifications. Je suis vraiment à bout 😒

As an HHT patient with a history of BAVM and current PAVM: Once again i’m on the phone back and forth with hospitals having to fight for an IV air filter for an upcoming iv contrast ct scan. The same hospital that i had done a test at before, Centenary Hospital, i had required an IV air filter and for that I had to educate them on what that is…after many back and forth and being deny ER care they got an iv air filter for me on the day of my past procedure but is now denying me care AGAIN and making my life more stressful by telling me nope they have no idea what that is and the receptionist in diagnostic imaging department is too lazy to even contact the DDU department in the SAME HOSPITAL to find out about it. They dont have iv air filters and dont want to order any for patients as myself. IV air filters are not new or for one type of patient as many other non HHT patients also require it so i just dont understand this. I have been experiencing full body numbness for the past month and have been to a walk-in clinic, my family doctor, even called my HHT dr at the COE at St. Michael’s but still not being seen soon enough for a simple CT scan! These doctors want someone to be on the brink of dying before any care is given its a shame really especially being that I live in CANADA and not a third world country.

My dad is in emergency since yesterday afternoon. He had an head injury with lots of bleeding. Till now they couldn’t provide any room or clean his cloths ( full of bloods ) & head. It’s ridiculous. Seems no one knows anything or they least bothered.

The worst hospital in the world. I would recommend going anywhere else.

I attended your COVID-19 assessment centre this morning. Other than some of the in-take staff constantly complaining and chattering so loudly that I couldn't hear the questions being asked of me by the staff member who was conducting my in-take assessment, my experience of the COVID-19 assessment process was reasonable and I'm glad I was able to book the appointment to be tested this morning. What is resulting in me not recommending this hospital is the behaviour I witnessed from two of your staff members who were out on a smoke break while I was waiting to enter the assessment centre. The two staff members were smoking on the only sidewalk available for hospital patrons to enter or exit the hospital complex on foot near the COVID-19 assessment center. They were with another staff member who was not smoking. An elderly gentleman wanted to pass but they did not move sufficiently out of his way or turn their smoke away from the sidewalk where he needed to pass. Noticing that they were not moving as he approached, he stopped and put his mask on. After he got through their smokey sidewalk corridor, he turned to them and mentioned something I did not hear but it was obviously a comment about them smoking and its impact on him. One of the smoking staff members then responded that he should just put his mask on. The fact is, no one should be smoking on hospital property to begin with. The staff members were not only smoking on hospital property but were also standing on the only sidewalk available to pedestrians entering and exiting the hospital grounds and had the gall to tell him that he needed to put his mask on instead of them moving to an area where their smoke could not affect pedestrians exiting or entering the hospital grounds. Your hospital administration needs to do a better job: 1. Of ensuring hospital visitors are protected from second-hand smoking whether by staff or other patrons; and 2. Educating your staff on how to treat hospital patrons respectfully. I will add that, when I was leaving the hospital grounds, I noticed two other staff members smoking on the hospital grounds. They, however, had found a spot that was out of the way of any pedestrians who might be exiting or entering the complex. So, while I feel they should not have been smoking on hospital property at all, at least these two found a spot to have their smoke break where others would not be impacted.

My son had tubes put in and the staff were great. I have also used the Kids after-hours clinic several times and happy they have those hours with a pediatrician available. The waiting room has a lot of toys for children.

Over the past several years I’ve had to use Centenary Hospital several times for both normal appointments and the emergency department as well. I have nothing but praise for the staff, from triage to being looked after the nurses, doctors and technicians have been nothing short of tremendous. A great bunch of professional people. I could not have been better treated.
