“I came to this place severely struggling with my mental and physical health. My GP for years kept pushing meds rather than figuring out what was wrong, with only 15 minute meetings focused on individual symptoms. I came to this place at rock bottom, not sure what else to do. I filled out an intensive form and quite honestly didn't have high hopes, I was just wanting to try anything at this point. Dr. Alana Barmby sat down with me for 75 minutes discussing the form I filled out, with additional questions. She helped me work with my GP to figure out I had an autoimmune disease (through recommended blood tests, ultrasounds, etc). I went in there not knowing what I was wanting to get out of it, just hoping for any kind of help. I am now on proper medication with a diagnosis, and feel like I can finally function again. “I booked in with Dr. Whelan last week and it was the most positive medical appointment I have EVER had in 10 years. The appointment lasted an hour and 45 minutes, and Dr.Whelan really dove into everything I had sent her in terms of medical results that I had done prior to. She was so interested in my medical history, my symptoms, my concerns and made me feel heard. Her energy was amazing and for the first time in a long time, although my journey with her is just beginning, I feel like I can see a small light at the end of the tunnel. “Dr. Alana Barmby made an immense impact in my life. Because of her expertise, I was able to push for and receive a celiac diagnosis that has potentially saved my life. Prior to her, I did not suspect celiac at all. She is immensely thorough and looks at her patients holistically, with an obvious care that you do not find in traditional western medicine. “I can’t express enough how amazing my experience with Dr Barmby has been. I was a little sceptical of naturopathy before my first appointment, but after years of pain and discomfort unresolved through conventional medical pathways, I felt I was ready to give it a shot. Firstly, I’ve never felt so ‘heard’ by a healthcare professional before. That process alone was so comforting, and unique from my experiences with the ‘only one issue per appointment!’ model of my past family physicians. Secondly, after an extensive review of my symptoms and history, she completely hit the nail on the head with a treatment protocol. Using herbs and supplements, I was able to be free of discomfort for the first time in what felt like forever! I am so grateful for this! “My experience with Dr. Barmby has always been a combination of excellent medical care as well as emotional care. She takes time with her patients, time to listen, to gather important information about their lives and health concerns. She listens. I find that this in itself is very valuable to people. More often than not I feel rushed when I’m at other visits with medical professionals. So much is missed in that hurried state. Sometimes just holding space for a patient to settle down , breathe and tell their story is worth so much right there. Not only is Dr. Barmby an experienced naturapath, she is a dedicated doctor who takes the time to investigate her patients issues and does her best to find the root causes behind their illnesses and concerns but she brings to the table so much experience and wisdom and knowledge.
