If you're looking for an authentic, traditional martial arts experience in the greater Vancouver area, you'll do no finer than Sadohana. Family owned and operated, the head instructors hold a passion for the art you will be hard pressed to find an equal to in any discipline. The depth of knowledge in Japanese Jujutsu is superb with the head instructor Hanshi Michael Seamark making annual trips to Japan to continue to deepen his own understanding of the art, both a master and a lifelong student. If you're looking for exercise or a more modern look at martial arts, Sadohana also offers a very comprehensive BJJ program. Here you will learn the root fundamentals from the same system used by world champions, Saulo and Xande Ribeiro as well as Rodrigo Pagani. The pedigree is impressive to be sure. All in all, if you are a curious beginner or an intermediate practitioner, you will find something for you at Sadohana

Amazing weekend of jujutsu, taught by Seamark Hanshi and several shihan. Lots time was spent working the waza and uncovering some of the details within the waza. It was also a treat to see some budo brothers and sisters on the mat again and catch up socially

Simply the best place to help you learn that, subtle can be a lot more than you can ever think.

Mind blowing Jiu Jitsu! Whether Japanese or Brazilian, expertise or exercise, family or fun, you'll find what you're looking for here. Five stars aren't quite enough for Sadohana.

This is a phenomenal dojo that offers several different classes to suit your interest and goals in the martial arts. Not a gym or a fight club, this is a place where people care about your progress, and help one another learn to be the best they can be. Hanshi Michael Seamark has an amazing depth of knowledge and experience. His ability to breakdown the details and mechanics of a technique is remarkable. If you're looking for somewhere to learn solid self-defense fundamentals for standing or ground, in an environment that is not overrun with ego and competition, this may be the place for you.

I have been training here for a long time, and the depth of knowledge possessed by the head instructor continues to boggle my mind. The methodical, technical approach to jiu-jitsu, both Japanese style and Brazilian, really makes it easy to digest and get better faster. I cannot speak highly enough of this school.

I've been training at Sadohana for a couple of years now. It's a wonderful community but beyond that, the instruction is top class. This is very good martial arts, and very accessible for anybody wanting to try things out.

Great atmosphere, everyone feels like family. Instructors are very well trained and the self defense programs and bjj are very thorough and make for a great workout. Highly recommend
