“I am a man in my 50s who has a functional neurological condition that has caused me speech issues over the past year. Catherine at S.L Hunter Speechworks has been an amazing help to me. I know that my speech issues are not the type of issue she normally might deal with but ... she used her imagination and creativity and found many techniques to help me. Our sessions are very interactive and my feedback is welcome. It is like we are a team trying to solve a strange puzzle. “As a child and well into my 20's, I had a strong stutter. Picture the public defender from My Cousin Vinny! I saw a fabulous speech therapist who went on to work with Shanda. That therapist provided me with strategies to align my breathing so that my speech would function better. Now days, the trick is getting me to be quiet! I guess making up for lost time... Shanda is an amazing lady! She helps people just like me and many others. The stories that she tells are true tear jerkers where you see the transformation that she and her team facilitate. Knowing that my speech therapist joined her team tells me about the caliber of people she works with. She brings a combination of empathy and skill to resolve speech and communication challenges.
