“I wasn't planning to leave a review, but after reflecting on my recent experience, I felt I should share it because I don't think the situation was handled fairly. I've visited this spa a few times before and have always had great experiences. My most recent massage was with a male therapist (I unfortunately forgot his name), and I really enjoyed the treatment. For Mother's Day, I organized a group booking for 8 ladies. Everyone attended except one friend, who became sick less than 24 hours before the appointment. Illness is something that can happen unexpectedly and isn't something anyone plans for. I explained the situation to staff, but we were still required to pay for her appointment. I do understand that therapists' time is valuable and that businesses have policies in place. However, I also believe there should be some room for empathy and flexibility, especially when circumstances are beyond someone's control. My concern is: would it have been preferable for her to attend while sick and potentially expose others at the spa? I even asked whether her appointment could simply be rescheduled to another day, but even with rescheduling, payment for that missed appointment was still required. I felt terrible for my friend and ended up covering the cost myself because I didn't think it was fair for her to pay for a service she never received. I understand policies are there for a reason, but I think situations involving illness could be handled with a bit more understanding and discretion.”Read moreShow less

“I’ve been to RnR several times, recently I went for my birthday spa day and got an Eminence Organic facial with Chona which I would highly recommend - she was very professional, the process was relaxing, and my skin felt great afterwards. I got a one hour massage with RMT Joaquina Nolasco and I would also highly recommend her - I enjoyed her technique, she really worked out the kinks in my neck, and she created a very relaxing environment. Definitely coming back 5/5, also enjoyed the spa amenities, including the steam room and sauna as part of the Spa day.”Read moreShow less

“I had an awesome experience today at RnR Spa Palliser. I booked 60 minutes relaxation massage with Marie and she was fantastic. Honestly, that was one of the best massages I ever had. Also the staff at the spa is super friendly and makes sure guests are 100% satisfied! These all reasons make me wanna come again to this place again and ASAP ☺️ I totally recommend it!!”Read moreShow less

“This was my first time in a spa for a treatment, I had a facial with Chona Villaroman and was absolutely amazing!! She is so talented, made me comfortable from the beginning until the end. I never felt so relaxed in my whole life as I did during my facial. 10/10 highly recommend!! I can’t wait to return.”Read moreShow less

“Lovely experience at the spa! My girlfriend treated me for a couple's massage for my birthday this year. Interestingly enough for the 38 years that I've been in Calgary, I've never actually visited any of the amenities in this hotel. The spa experience was wonderful and relaxing. We arrived about an hour early to take advantage of the pool area which was a good way to wind down from a busy week. The massage room was clean, the perfect temperature and serene. Both our massages were were perfect and the staff overall were beyond helpful and kind. We will definitely be back again soon!”Read moreShow less

“I’m someone who genuinely loves going to the spa and prioritizes relaxation, so I decided to try the Fairmont Palliser Spa after previously visiting the hotel for high tea and it was good. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst spa experiences I’ve ever had, and I would not recommend it. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, but the facility itself was extremely disappointing. The changing room was tiny . Two people could not comfortably fit inside. The bathroom area was messy, with toilet paper on the floor, hair in the sinks and shower, mold, and an overall dirty appearance. The mirrors were loose on the wall, the shower curtain looked very cheap, and there were no washcloths available. It honestly made me feel uncomfortable and itchy, and I almost left before my service even started. I even pointed out the condition of the bathroom and the dirty items in the shower to a staff member who was dropping off towels, and she simply said “okay” and walked away without addressing it. For a luxury hotel brand charging premium prices, this level of cleanliness and upkeep is unacceptable. The massage itself was also disappointing. The therapist did not seem confident or skilled, did not focus on the areas I specifically requested, applied more pressure after I asked for lighter pressure, and spent a lot of time rubbing in lotion rather than actually performing a proper massage. Overall, the spa feels outdated, poorly maintained, and unhygienic ;more like a two star facility than a luxury experience. It’s shocking that a Fairmont property would allow a spa in this condition, and I truly believe someone could get sick if the cleanliness issues are not addressed. I will not be returning .I’ll stick to the others im use to ; much cleaner, more professional, and a far better value for your money.”Read moreShow less

“Unfortunately, this wasn’t the relaxing experience my partner and I were hoping for. It had the potential to be great, but a few issues made it disappointing overall. The check-in process was smooth, and we were shown around the facilities before our massages. However, things started to feel a bit awkward once our therapists came to get us. They were nice but our introductions weren't great and during the massage, one of the therapists continued to talk and ask my partner questions, which made it difficult for either of us to fully relax. Partway through, I also noticed a bug crawling on the floor beneath me, which I had to interrupt the session to have removed. While I understand that’s not the therapist’s fault, it definitely took away from the calming atmosphere. The highlight of our visit was the use of the pool, hot tub, and steam room — those amenities were very enjoyable. We went early Sunday afternoon so it wasn't very busy with hotel guests. It seemed to just be guests from the spa. Lastly, we were told afterward that one of the massage services couldn’t be direct billed through insurance because the RMT was new and not yet in their system. I wish this had been mentioned beforehand, especially since I had called two days prior to confirm direct billing was available. I also had issues trying to bill through my insurance (couldn't find the RMT in the system) so I phoned the spa and the response from the front desk was to wait a few days to try again or call my insurance because they aren't an insurance company. Overall, while the facilities themselves were nice, the service and communication issues made it far less relaxing than we expected. We will come again but request different therapists and make sure they can be direct billed for a smoother more relaxing experience.”Read moreShow less

“This was my first visit to the Palliser location, and I have to say—the steam room and swimming pool are the biggest highlights of the space. I usually go to their sister spa just around the corner, so naturally, I ended up comparing the two. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the amenities here. The space feels dated, especially the shower area, and there was a noticeable lack of basic offerings like soaps (other guest removed them from the wall to check if there’s anything in there - see pics), lotions, and beverages that are typically available at the other location. For a spot within such a well-known hotel, I expected a bit more in terms of upkeep and thoughtful amenities.”Read moreShow less
