“I travelled a long distance expecting a peaceful, relaxing resort experience, but unfortunately that wasn’t what I found. Despite clear signs stating the upper pool is for adults (19+) only, there were numerous children screaming, running, and jumping into the pool while splashing guests trying to relax. There was no apparent enforcement of the adults-only policy. I specifically travelled without my own children to enjoy a quiet getaway, yet the atmosphere felt more like a busy water park than a resort and spa. That said, the resort itself is beautiful, well maintained, and the staff were pleasant. If the adults-only areas were properly enforced and I could be confident of a peaceful, relaxing experience, I would definitely return.”Read moreShow less

“Disappointed - my best friend surprised me with a stay at Poet's Cove. I was expecting a high end resort with excellent service. That's not what we got. Starting off with check in - we arrived around 6pm to an empty desk with a walkie-talkie and a sign that said "press the green button and say hello". So we did - no response. Tried again, no response. Another guest came in behind us and tried a couple of times - no response. Finally another guest tried - nothing. Then a male staff member came stomping through the door bellowing " please stop, please stop!" He checked us in, huffing and stabbing at his keyboard the entire time. Not a great start. We get to our room #301 and it's hot as blazes. There is no air conditioning inside the rooms and it was mid 30s C that day. A ceiling fan and a provided plug-in fan do not cut it. Sleeping that night was not pleasant. The next morning I stopped at the front desk and explained the check-in debacle to the woman at the desk. She assured me she would advise management. I also asked for more towels, which never came. I assume the message to management was never delivered. We were there for 2 nights and our room was never cleaned. The decor is old and tired, the carpet stained, and the carpet nails poke through so you get jabbed when walking into the bathroom. Oh and coffee splashed on the wall. The spa was nice but the power kept cutting out. Really not their fault, but it just added to the disappointment. I'm sure this place was amazing when it first opened, but it is in need of upgrades both in decor and service. Beautiful location, but that's all youre paying for.”Read moreShow less

“Understaffed. Was so looking forward to some pampering on vacation. Masseuse not available today. Small room, paper cups,no safe, shower grimy. Tacks protruding from carpet, large bubble in carpet posing tripping risk. Lovely restaurant. Same tiresome menu for lunch and dinner. Wait staff excellent. Enjoyed pool and hot tub.”Read moreShow less

“This resort was someone's dream at some point in history. They found this amazing location and built it into a really beautiful spot. But somewhere along the way something happened to make them give up on caring about what makes a resort a resort. The rooms were fine, but lack the decor and little details you expect from a resort at this price. The furniture was uncomfortable and not even enough places to sit in the living room as there were beds to sleep in. The staff don't care if you're there or not. Just completely disengaged. No good mornings or even smiles as you go by. The restaurant was dirty, run down and understaffed. The food was mediocre. The coffee shop staff was unfriendly and seemed to care more about coworker friends than the guests. And what is with the cigarette receptacles every 10 feet? I get having a smoking section, but the entire shoreline seems to be one at Poet's Cove. Everywhere else we stayed in the Gulf Islands was strictly non smoking. Finally, I don't understand why there is a trailer park in the parking lot. An ACTUAL trailer park with trailer park people living in it. Four on wheels that look to have been there for years and a double wide that is obviously permanent. If your expectations are only of a mid-tier hotel with a larger living space, you'll be satisfied. But that's not the price you're paying here. And just skip the restaurant and head to the Copper Otter across the island, whose food and staff were both top notch.”Read moreShow less

“Had a wonderful weekend at the poets cove resort! The room is cozy and clean and has spectacular views of the harbour. The restaurant downstairs has great vibe serving delicious dinner with sunset views and live band by the water. We made good use of the well maintained tennis court and the hot tubs during our stay which is such a bonus!”Read moreShow less

“We were there for a romantic getaway. We thought for 336 a night the rooms would pristine. We were shocked it was in great need of upkeep. The cracked wall , ripped chair , stained carpets was a surprise. The bed was comfortable. The food was quality and good. The staff was untrained but thats okay, they're getting ready for a new season. We unfortunately had the guests from hell above us playing techno music above us. The staff immediately told them to turn it off when we complained at 12am. The techno music was back on at 9am , at no fault of the hotels. The views were super stunning. I would definitely suggest to clean the class and balconies. Quite dirty and full of bird shit. The grounds were beautiful and one pool was open . Our water cooler was empty beside the room and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years so we were definitely not going to drink from it anyway . So a little dissatisfied sigh.”Read moreShow less
