“To this day, I still do not know why my consultation was cancelled on the day of the appointment after a long wait and holding that date on my calendar. I understand that not every patient is a suitable candidate and that clinics have policies regarding who they can and cannot see. My issue was never with being told no. My issue was that I waited a long time for a consultation, only to have it cancelled on the day of the appointment with no explanation. When I called, I was polite, upset, and looking for answers. I wasn’t trying to challenge the decision or the clinic. I was simply trying to understand why I wasn’t considered a suitable candidate so that I could determine whether I was pursuing the wrong type of specialist and avoid spending more time on another waiting list that might lead to the same outcome. I never called staff names. I was never rude. I was never asking anyone to change the decision. I was crying because it is devastating to wait a long time for an appointment, only to have it cancelled on the day of said appointment after holding that date on your calendar and hoping for answers, with zero explanation or even kindness. I was repeatedly and dismissively told in a raised voice that it “wasn’t their job.” To this day, I still do not know why my consultation was cancelled. Patients can handle disappointing news. What is much harder is being given no explanation and no direction after spending months or years waiting for help. I will never understand why I was treated with so much unkindness and hostility from the staff here. I am, however, incredibly grateful for the professional and compassionate healthcare team I eventually found despite my experience with Protea Pelvic Floor Clinic.”Read moreShow less

“I wish I was able to keep up the 4 star reviews but unfortunately I am not. A little backstory. I have been suffering from a prolapse for about a year now. Not only does it negatively impact my day to day life but it also impacts my mental health to the point where I have tried to end my life. I have had appointment after appointment with my family physician and have been referred to multiple specialists. Every appointment is the same. I am told that as this condition is not life threatening they will not do the surgery for me and my only option was to reach out to a private clinic and pay out of pocket. This is where Protea Pelvic Floor Clinic comes in. I reached out to the clinic to schedule a consultation. I felt like things might be turning around for me and I might be able to receive some help, finally. I was very wrong. On the day of my consultation I received an email from the clinic letting me know that they were canceling my consultation as they couldn’t help me but no explanation as to why. I was completely gutted and heartbroken by this email. I thought I was finally going to be able to get some help but instead I was told the same thing every other healthcare professional has told me. “We can’t help you”. On the advice of my friend I decided to call the clinic to inquire why my consultation was cancelled and why they couldn’t help me and to see if maybe they could point me in the direction of someone who could. I thought I would be met with friendly and helpful staff but I was very wrong. Every question I asked I was met with the response “it’s not my job”. All I wanted is some kindness and compassion. Some understanding of the impacts of living this way. I just wanted to know why I wasn’t’t a good candidate and if they could point me in the right direction. Navigating the healthcare world on your own is a challenge and can often times leave you feel defeated and hopeless. This review isn’t to shame the business or the doctor - I’m writing this as a reminder that it costs zero dollars to be kind, compassionate and helpful. I hope that when you read this review you can reflect on your behaviour towards me and how I was treated and make the choice to do better. “Dr. Murphy is a amazing. I was initially referred to a different doctor who had said he was going to perform surgery for a prolapsed bladder. As I was told I required surgery for a prolapsed bowel too, but needed to find a different doctor. I was referred to Dr Murphy and am I glad I was. Dr Murphy performed various tests and I was told no surgery was needed. Prescribed medications and I am doing great. Dr Murphy is kind and understanding. He listens to your concerns and doesn’t dismiss anything. His staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend Dr. Murphy!”Read moreShow less

“Dr. Murphy definitely fixed my problems. I had had surgery twice before and neither lasted. I have been leak free for about 7 years now. I found all of his staff excellent to deal with.
