“I am 14 years old, and recently I’ve truly been going through a difficult time missing my family, immigration problems, family arguments, and overall these kinds of issues. Until Ms. Alia came into my life. She is very kind, funny, and caring, to the point that if my mother is busy or doesn’t have time at all to drive me to the clinic, she herself drives kilometers to a park near our house so that even if every single member of my family is busy, I can still go see her, have a session, and talk together. She is an extremely patient, kind, and wise woman. She is an incredibly good listener, unlike every single psychologist and psychiatrist in this country who claim to be professional but only talk themselves and don’t let you speak at all, and ask you a thousand questions in the middle of your words so you completely forget what you wanted to say. Overall, they make you feel uncomfortable and give you the feeling that they only want you for your money and don’t care about you at all, and just want to finish the session faster to get paid. And instead of giving the patient a sense of comfort and safety, they don’t even let them cry and tell them “you’re not allowed to cry,” and overall they give you the feeling that you can’t even be comfortable in front of your own psychiatrist. She has not interrupted me even once or cut me off; she just listened to me and simply let me empty myself, feel comfortable and safe, and she didn’t tell even the smallest thing from our conversations to my mother. She is exactly what a psychiatrist, counselor, and therapist should be the companion and empath of their patient. In addition to the in-person sessions, which are full of games, puzzles, drawing, creative activities, listening to music, and things like that, she recreates the atmosphere of a home for you, as if you are in your own house, and you can completely feel comfortable without being judged. I am also in contact with her on my WhatsApp, and sometimes we talk with each other. Even outside of session times, whenever she finds any free time, she spends it first coming to WhatsApp to check if I’ve sent a message so we can talk. Even though she is very busy during the day and has many consecutive sessions, she still does this, while she could spend her time on herself and get some rest. She chooses to spend that time on me. Because unlike some doctors, counselors, or psychiatrists who only think about their money and don’t give even the smallest importance to their patient even if it is just a small, hurt child who is crying she cares about us, because she loves us, she loves her patients, she loves the people she meets. And you don’t know how valuable this is to me. And thousands of other good things that cannot fit into words. In my hardest days, when no one was there for me not even my older sister you were there for me, you stayed with me, you supported me and comforted me. Thank you for everything, Ms. Alia… I love you”Read moreShow less
