“I started going to Chantale around 15 months ago. I came to her a person who was stuck dealing with chronic illness and riddled with anxieties and fears. I was stuck and needed guidance and direction. The first time I met Chantale she spoke to me with such compassion. I felt calm and accepted for who I was. She saw me and she made me feel heard. Chantale is a genuine empathetic person and she truly cares so much. She did everything she could to understand me and support me. She has always kept honest and open communication with me through out all our sessions. She would always check in with me and made sure my sessions were going in the direction of my goals. She would focus on all the good I was doing and would tell me when I needed to hear it. She challenged me when I needed it in the most encouraging way. The parts of myself that needed compassion and work she guided me through. And I slowly started to see myself again. I always felt Chantale was on my side. She cheered me on and she believed in me. I could feel her excitement for me as I started implementing the changes I needed. She would often pause our sessions for her to remind me of my accomplishments and how far I have come. Those reminders helped me so much. What I love about Chantale as a person and as a counsellor is how human she is. She feels with you, she empathizes with you, she doesn’t talk to you from a script. It’s real , it’s raw and it’s genuine. She gives you the space and time you need in those hard moments to just feel. She is patient and incredibly kind. You can feel how much she wants you to succeed. Chantale recognizes the strength and hard work it takes for one to better themselves. And she reminds you of that strength when you need to hear it. Over the last year Chantale has supported me in helping me pull away from the dark shadow I was living under. She brought out a fight in me again. She got me taking action , and she got me out of my bedroom where before I spent 90% of my time. She helped me start living my life again. She encouraged me through everything! In the hard moments she listened and empathized with me and helped me grow. In the good moments she shared joy with me. She helped me find hope for a better tomorrow. She believed in me while I worked with her on pulling out the parts of myself that were holding me back. She saw my good, and she saw me. Chantale gave me the biggest gift, she helped me find myself again. I’m so grateful to have her as my counsellor, and that she’s the person to see me on this journey. Chantale thank you for being you.”Read moreShow less

“Racism hurts, and targeted racism is traumatic and can leave lasting devastating effects. The Jr. Black Achievement Awards wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to staff Lindi and John for delivering an educational session on diversity, equity, and inclusion focusing on systemic racism. They provided support and a safe space for our youth to discuss their experiences with being black in the BC School Systems. The care and tenderness in leading our youth down the path toward racial healing is one of understanding and compassion before, during, and after the panel session. Having Dieko and Joni available to support our audience solidified community and reinforced that we are all in this together. We truly appreciated working with Open Mind Counselling and look forward to what is in store for the future. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your passion for empowering our youth and your desire to share your expertise in uplifting our community. I recognize that everybody needs someone at some point in their lives. Finding someone you can identify with, connect with, and trust is crucial. As a believer in the process of healing, I am so impressed with the staff and proud to work with Open Mind Counselling. I am very happy to recommend them for Counselling needs.
