I had a consultation session with Niki regarding my dry skin, and she recommended an EltaMD tinted face sunscreen that was supposed to help moisturize dry skin. Unfortunately, after using it a couple of times, my skin became even drier and seemed to have a negative reaction. I stopped using it, then tried again about a month later with the same results. I paid around $80 for a small bottle and, unfortunately, it ended up being a waste of money for me. When I contacted the clinic, they mentioned they had not received similar feedback from other clients. Just sharing my personal experience if you are considering this product, I would recommend asking for a sample before purchasing to make sure it works well with your skin, especially if you have sensitive or very dry skin. Also, keep in mind no option for credit or exchange in here.

Not a Walk-in Clinic. Advertised as a walk-in clinic but when you arrive, they have a sign on the door confirming that they do not - in fact - offer walk-in clinic services. They do apologize for the inconvenience caused by their fake advertising, which is nice.

I was referred to Dr. Ian’s dermatology office in West Vancouver by my family doctor for what was described as an urgent skin concern. My GP initially indicated that I would likely receive an appointment within about 4–5 weeks. However, after the referral was sent, I was offered an appointment in late October, which felt extremely delayed given the nature of the issue. When I explained my concern about the long wait time and the urgency of my condition, the response I received was essentially that there was no flexibility or earlier availability. I understand specialists can be busy, but I was disappointed by the lack of urgency, empathy, or effort to help guide me toward an alternative solution. As a patient dealing with a stressful medical issue, I expected better communication and more support in navigating the situation.

My appointment with dermatologist Ian Wong was the worst experience I've had with a doctor. He basically told me that my acne was incurable, showed ZERO empathy, and had no idea how to speak to a female patient. If you got referred here for dermatology, get a new referral

I'm not one to write a negative review, but this clinic has sadly warranted one over the years. My experience with my doctor had been overall positive, but not with reception/front desk. There have been times I've been absolutely appalled by the way they've communicated with me. 1. I have been rudely hung up on mid-sentence because they were "too busy" to wait the 10 seconds to confirm I received the correct lab req by email, I didn't. I had been sent another patient's lab reqs (with all of their personal info including address, SIN#, medical history etc.) instead of my own, with no remorse or explanation. I had to call back and wait again for my own form. 2. They'd told me when joining the clinic that when my current doctor leaves the practice as anticipated, that another doctor would take on my case (a condition that was essential to my decision of going to this clinic). Once he left the clinic, I got a rude call from reception telling me that this was untrue and that I no longer have a doctor there because there was no-one to take my case, leaving me without an MD, and leaving no trace of tact, empathy, or general kindness in the communication. Thankfully after about a year without an MD I got a call from a new doctor at the clinic who apparently offered to take my case, which I happily accepted. It says online you can book appointments but I've never been able to, it doesn't work. So I have to call in to book. At the moment, having spent an hour waiting in line on hold (fairly typical but thats how it goes), to then get sent to voice mail (which the automated voice said they do not have) and therefore hungup on me. I just called back and was again sent to the back and was 7th in line. I guess I'll try again some other time... To summarize, my experience with my past doctor was decent at this location, but the treatment and disorganization of reception creates so much unnecessary stress that if you have the choice I would choose a different clinic.

After 10 days waiting for a phone call appointment at today February 2, 2926, I had an extremely unprofessional and frustrating experience with Ocean Medical Clinic. Here is what happened: Today , I had a scheduled phone appointment at 11:00 AM with my family doctor at this clinic. I cleared my schedule and waited by the phone for two hours. No call ever came from the clinic or the doctor. After this pointless wait, I called the clinic myself. The receptionist casually informed me that my family doctor is not available at least for one another week and therefore could not attend the scheduled call. I explained my critical situation after a kidney stone surgery last week and waiting for this call advise from my family doctor and explained about my current situation, the receptionist tried to connect me to another assistant but this one was not available too. My primary question is this: Why did no one have the basic courtesy to inform me in advance? A simple phone call or message could have prevented the complete waste of two hours of my time. When I explained my situation and stated that I still needed to speak to someone about my medical concerns, the receptionist transferred me to the doctor's assistant. The assistant did not answer the call either. I was forced to call back multiple times, with no resolution in sight. Ultimately, the only "solution" offered to me was a new appointment—8 days later. There was no apology, no offer to speak with another available physician, and zero regard for the potential urgency of a patient's medical situation. Glaring issues: 1. Complete lack of communication: Failing to notify a patient of a cancelled appointment is fundamentally unprofessional and shows disrespect for their time. 2. No backup system: When a doctor is unavailable, there appears to be no backup plan or covering physician to address patients' needs. 3. Abandoning the patient: Transferring me to an assistant who doesn't answer the phone added insult to injury. 4. No accountability or remedy: There was no attempt to apologize or make amends for this significant failure in service.

I am very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Ian Wong. don't recommend this Doctor at all. I was misdiagnosed with scabies after two visits. Despite ongoing symptoms, no skin scraping or biopsy was ordered to properly confirm the diagnosis. I later shared photos of my condition with a dermatologist in Iran, who was able to identify the issue from pictures alone. Additionally, my oncologist clearly advised that my skin condition was not related to chemotherapy, but this information did not seem to be taken seriously, and no further investigation was done. I feel my concerns were not thoroughly addressed, and more effort should have been made to reach an accurate diagnosis, especially given my medical history. I expected a more careful and detailed approach.

I arrived to Canada three years ago and this is the first clinic I came to: amazing district (close to the water parks), organized receptionists and a cozy environtment inside (the clinic is bit small though, and that's why usually very busy). I always have an amazing experince with Dr. Lana (Svetlana), nice and friendly specialist, will give you all the referrals/prescriptions/lab tests you need even for check up (super rare here as the doctors usually do not put a lot of effort if you do not have a serious problem); the doctor NEVER asked me to come directly to the clinic without a reason or if she could solve the problem via the phone call - super professional and convenient. So sad that Ocean Walk do not accept new walk in patients anymore, I recommended you to many friends in the area.

0 star The worst experience ever! I visited this clinic on Wednesday and was told that all the walk-in slots were full for the day and to come back Thursday morning at 8:30 AM because the doctor would see four walk-in patients. I arrived exactly on time, traveling over 1.5 hours to get there, only to be told there were no walk-ins available! Seriously? I had a simple form that would have taken just a few minutes to complete, but they refused to help me and wasted my time. Their behavior was shockingly unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Don’t waste your time here—go somewhere where they actually respect their patients.

Ocean Medical is West Vancouver's and the Northshore's first multi-disciplinary clinic, and includes core Family Practices (with affiliation to UBC Dept. of Family Practice) , Walk-in Services and non-emergency Healthcare Facilities. Located in the Ocean Walk Complex at the corner of Marine Drive & 19th Street (with available underground Parking, and adjacent/interconnected Physiotherapy Clinic & Pharmacy), Ocean Medical is a very popular, often busy, but always warm and professional medical environment. Dr. Robert Scott & his team of Physicians and Staff (members of whom are multilingual, e.g., Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese) are genuinely caring, and the whole clinic environment/feel is very patient and calm. Ocean Medical is definitely found at the top of the list for caring professionalism in Family Practice Doctors and Walk-in Clinic medical services.
