“Dr. Chan came to my grandmother's care home yesterday. The mobile clinic is so professional, caring, and understanding of elderly support. My grandmother no longer speaks English due to dementia, and appointments can be very confusing and stressful for her. The fact that it is able to be done in the comfort of a building she knows is already a huge bonus, but Dr. Chan was very accommodating. I was worried that because my grandmother no longer speaks English, the eye exam would be skewed because she wouldn't remember a letter in English. When I voiced that to Dr. Chan, she immediately pulled out numbers for my grandma to read out instead, which was I able to translate and let the doctor know if she was seeing it correctly or not. Something minor like this speaks volumes to me when it comes to accessibility support. I'm so grateful for a service like this in Vancouver. I wish there were more medical clinics that could offer the same, especially for dementia accessibility.”Read moreShow less

“My elderly father suffers with dementia, is hard of hearing and is wheelchair bound at a nursing home. It is challenging for medical professionals to assess him. Dr. Chan understood what my father is facing and empathized with our family. She took the time to assess my father's eye care needs, patiently explained to our family, and efficiently set him up with new eye glasses. This was not a simple eye exam as there are other issues with his vision. Most medical professionals are too busy to answer calls from patients, but not Dr. Chan - she was there for us when needed. Supporting Dr. Chan is a very efficient, professional support team and in particular, Carly.
