“This is a nursing care home. Economical as far as care homes go. Well appointed. Lovely staff. Kind caregivers. My sister is a resident and says that the food is good. Guest parking is limited. Paid for by scanned credit card.”

“Very unfriendly, do not encourage socialization. Bare bones room no bedside table. Drawers that don’t close. Have to constantly advocate for family members. Not allowed to sit with family in the dining area. Do not follow doctor approved diabetes diet. Give fruit cocktail and white rice. Offer sweetened yogurt. Pay parking by tap only no option for those without tap. Grateful this is only for rehab!”Read moreShow less

“The care and compassion shown by the hospice team during an incredibly difficult time meant more to our family than words can express. Every staff member was kind, patient, and deeply respectful, always taking the time to explain what to expect and ensuring our loved one was comfortable and treated with dignity. Their support extended not only to our loved one, but to our entire family, offering comfort, reassurance, and genuine kindness when we needed it most. We are profoundly grateful for the care they provided and would highly recommend their hospice services.”Read moreShow less

“I wouldn't recommend this facility. I treat my father holistically, plus some pharmaceuticals, and the nurse practitioner (Brenda) there is refusing to allow me to continue. My father is near the end of life, and I have managed to keep him pain-free on supplements; they are swamped and are always late addressing issues. Just like the government they cannot Provide any care outside their wheelhouse and are very close-minded. If you do not have an open mind and are uninformed, this place would be a dream for your family members. However, if you truly care for them, I would not recommend that they come to this facility, I also do not recommend the government system as they have provided zero assistance with my father, they cannot provide in-home care as he can still bathe, eat and walk on his own . I've tried getting him into daycare programs and the excuse is he is too old or not in a catchment of Fraser health. I work in Vancouver and cannot be home to take him or pick him up and they refused service. I have no family to assist my father the government is not here to help the aged population, they are their to provide a bed to lay in until death.”Read moreShow less

“I really advise families to keep their loved ones away from this centre at all costs. This rehab centre completely failed my father during one of the most vulnerable times of his life. He was admitted after having a stroke and needed proper care, physio, and support during recovery. Instead, he was neglected and treated with shocking disrespect. Staff repeatedly ignored him when he asked for help, even when he was clearly struggling. He experienced shortness of breath for a week, and every time he reported it, they brushed it off as “anxiety” and to go back to bed, like it was nothing. It wasn’t until my father took matter into his own hands and called his own family doctor asking him to take action, and the doctor thankfully advocated for him. When they FINALLY listened and took him to the ER, they found out he had a pulmonary embolism. This could have been fatal if he hadn’t kept pushing to be heard. The lack of empathy and professionalism was disturbing. The nurses were rude and dismissive, treating him like a burden instead of a patient. Honestly, there’s no point of providing a call bell to the patients since they don’t even respond until after 30 minutes. What if something were to happen to him during that wait time? To make matters worse, the rehab nurse didn’t even inform us that he was sent to the ER until two hours later—long after my father already updated us himself. When we showed up to collect some of his things, they had already packed up his room and said he had been “discharged” and wouldn’t be returning. No conversation. No proper explanation. Just completely washed their hands of him. This place should not be trusted with the care of anyone’s loved ones. What happened to my father was unacceptable, and I truly hope others think twice before sending someone here. Horrible experience from start to finish. One thing I’d like to note to the nurses; if your patient says they feel like something is wrong. LISTEN TO THEM. They know their body better than you do. Do your job. The patients would much rather be in the comfort of their home, but they have to be in this centre for recovery. Don’t make it harder than it already is for them!!!! The only good nurse was Agnes and social worker Sean, thank you for being the only ones who actually cared for my father.”Read moreShow less

“My husband was cared for with great empathy and kindness! Care workers and nurses were always positive with him even once he could no longer look after himself! There were always activities he could participate in with other residents. He had more company there than alone at home! You could tell he was being looked after by the way he smiled at them during his care! There was always a positive attitude shared with him that would keep him happy! Our family Thanks the staff for caring for him so well!”Read moreShow less

“Hospice - parent placed early in 2024. First few visits were a bit tricky getting the sequence of codes to travel from outer doors to lobby, then decorative metal gate which leads to hospice area. I’ve read the previous reviews and feel sad that others weren’t able to have the compassionate care that my parent received from nursing, maintenance, food service and volunteers. Even during the final days there was always a kind word from those who tend my fragile parent. Parking is limited, you’re going to have to figure out which times work best for your needs. Pro tip - statutory holidays to gain entry call the “on call” number for staff.”Read moreShow less

“My dad was in care at Laurel Place for two and half years. I have deep gratitude to the staff who helped him to feel safe and at home in the last stage of his life. The nurses, care aides, recreation staff, food workers, and his doctor, all treated us with respect, kept us informed, and responded to our feedback with sensitivity and kindness. The sense of community that was created between the residents, family members and staff was heartwarming. Thank you Laurel Place, both for for looking after my dad, and for walking with us all on this difficult journey.”Read moreShow less
