“We met with Dr. Inch, she is great with kids. She seemed like not just a good doctor but a great person. She was patient with our very shy son and took her time with him. Highly recommend her as she is a caring and professional doctor.”

“I get emotional about lansdowne cause if we did not go to my older son sk orientation we would not connect with them for my younger son plus they’re staff and my younger son diagnosis and there services be their for him. And be there for me at my corner having my back. And believing in me that l was not wrong with about my son having asd there is a light at end of tunnel”

“Fantastic experience, once you get in. The wait is extremely long to receive support but once you’re in you really feel you’re in the best of care. My little guy is so excited to go every week. It really fills up his cup, and we’ve seen a lot of improvement with his speech. Highly recommend! Wonderful staff. Absolutely lovely, caring people who clearly have a passion for children’s wellness. Thanks Landsdowne!”

“My daughter is taking her son for once a week visits. Last week I filled in for her and took my Grandson. Everyone was super kind and lots of smiles. The lady who worked my Grandson was so very nice and a fun person. I enjoyed the session too😀 She gives us a lot of tips and ideas on how to encourage him to talk. Thank you to everyone there for making our visits pleasant. Warning; it can be difficult to get your child to leave once their appointment is done. My Grandson doesn't want to leave, poor boy. He is having so much fun and the 30 minute visit goes by so fast. There are rooms with play equipment that we have to walk by to leave also. I always feel so bad and he cries. He was enjoying himself. I don't blame him.”

“My son previously attended two other children’s centres in other parts of Ontario, and Lansdowne is by far the best. We’ve met with a bunch of different staff members, and all of them are incredibly friendly, kind, and passionate about working with children. They’ve been really good at identifying my son’s individual needs and working out specialized plans to help him thrive. They’ve also been very helpful in supporting our entire family. My son had so much fun the last time we were there, he didn’t want to leave. I’m so thankful for Landsdowne, and I believe every community needs a place like Landsdowne.”

The entire staff is helpful, from the front desk to the many different professionals that look out for you and your child in the most professional manner possible. I have never felt unsafe, unwelcome or uneasy being here as a father. Should your child get diagnosed, its a welcoming resource to be apart of.”

“First of all, the slogan at the front door has got to go: "a special place for special kids" is horrifying. this is a mindset from 40 years ago and basically describes the entire approach of this therapy. I dislike how children with a slight speech impediment are lumped in with severely autistic and non verbal or behaviourally problematic children or kids with severe disabilities like MS. other cities handle Early Words very differently and with more dignity. I've also found my daughter with a speech impediment was not given treatment but my nearly nonverbal son was. because the place is so locally relied on with 6 month or more wait lists, if the case isn't "too bad" there doesn't seem to be resources for a slight speech problem when there are so many waiting with a severe one. this is only part of the reason I feel Lansdowne should follow the model of other cities and send speech kids to the deaf and hard of hearing experts and language pathologists who work to improve speech not overworked and miserable therapists that are congratulatory if a child communicates at all by any means possible. my son was originally offered pictures to point to what he wants rather than encouraging him to speak (which he could do, but didn't want to - selective mutism). Hamilton, where I was from, took a different approach of encouraging speech. I felt Lansdowne was being lazy because they were used to kids that were not able to speak. finally. I really dislike how bikers raise money for the programs. to me this is wrong and encourages organized crime. again, Hamilton would not have promoted this. it seems to be encouraged here. all said, they do work closely with the schools and if your child actually is developmentally delayed, there are doctors and reports shared with the school system which can help you navigate the chaos some and sometimes get school staff to understand your unique child. I would much rather deal with McMaster children's hospital's programming as my doctor had wanted, but apparently only Hamilton residents are entitled to benefit from the expert help. never knew how spoiled we were living in the medical epicentre until we moved to the boonies!”
