I have so many great things to say about Crown & Press! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful—stylish and artistic, yet still warm, cozy, and inviting. The art gallery and curated shop in the back make every visit feel unique. I've ordered several prints online for pickup, and the process has always been seamless, with excellent quality. As someone who works remotely sometimes, Crown & Press has become my favourite spots for WFH days. The drinks are consistently fantastic, whether it's a perfectly crafted latte or their refreshing blueberry lemonade. The breakfast scone sandwiches are absolutely to die for, and you can't leave without trying the yogurt parfaits or cookies—they never disappoint! What truly sets Crown & Press apart, though, is the staff. Every team member is friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about both the art and the menu. They're always happy to make recommendations and create a great experience. Today, one of the baristas went above and beyond for me. I had three virtual interviews scheduled and realized I'd left my headphones at the office. Without hesitation, they kindly lent me a pair so I could get through all of my interviews. That level of kindness and customer care is something you don't forget. Crown & Press is a true gem in Hamilton, and I will always recommend it to anyone looking for great coffee, delicious food, inspiring art, and exceptional people.

The cafe itself is nice, and the coffee was decent; however, my food experience was disappointing. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap, and to my surprise, the entire wrap was grilled with the lettuce inside, which I personally don’t think works very well. More concerning, as I was eating, I noticed a large amount of brown lettuce inside and ended up pulling out about half a handful. I usually don’t complain, but I felt this situation warranted mentioning. I spoke with one of the baristas, and I was ultimately offered a cookie in place of the half-eaten wrap. While it’s not for me to decide how a business handles these situations, the overall experience left me with a poor impression and unfortunately did not make me want to return.

I found this cafe to be a really great study spot. The space is super cute and the art gallery is fun to walk around in. There's tons of tables and natural lighting, with free WiFi. I ordered a chai latte and it was pretty standard, would definitely come back just for the atmosphere. Edit on 2nd visit: The iced coffee was pretty watered down with way too much milk, probably wouldn't come here just for the coffee, but the service was still great!

Another first for me. This cafe+art gallery+boutique shop is a lovely hidden gem on Ottawa Street. The open concept, clean lines and unique furnishings give the Cafe a comfortable charm. The 12oz black americano was a rich and smooth delight. The art gallery was occupied with a painting class, but I did get to view some nice local talent! The boutique was AMAZING. Thank you Sandy for the warm welcome and help picking out some statement pieces. On my way back out I grabbed an iced American with a shot of cherry. Did not disappoint. I give it 9/10 only because is was super busy and more noisy than I prefer. I will definitely be back..and often.

Crown and Press - A Julia Veenstra Gallery and Cafe is one of those places that instantly makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Very aesthetic - you could easily call it “Instagrammable,” but without feeling staged. The space is bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed, making it perfect whether you want to work, chat, or simply reset with a good coffee. Speaking of coffee - strong, flavorful, and clearly crafted for people who actually care about what’s in their cup. What makes this spot stand out is the combination of café and gallery. You can browse and purchase artwork while you’re there, which adds a creative energy to the entire space. During my visit, there was even a workshop happening - people were painting, and the atmosphere felt calm, inspiring, and genuinely welcoming. If you appreciate places where coffee meets creativity, this one is absolutely worth a visit.

I absolutely loved the vibe of this place!🎨✨The decor, gallery, and coffee were so good! There’s tons of space with some outlets along the benches. There art was stunning and I love that everything shown was for sale! I would definitely come again🤍💐

I was here for a singles event and vendor market and was pleasantly surprised at the size and space available. Nice atmosphere and cozy cafe for a nice evening out. No gluten free options but the ambiance makes it worthwhile

The cafe is fantastic on a regular day. However, I had the opportunity to host a client appreciation event in the space and it was PERFECT! more than enough room for the 30 people who attended. Everyone raved about the espresso martini amongst other drinks. I also felt really great about the fact that the majority of my guests had not been to Crown and Press. I introduced them to a lovely space where art and coffee mix well. Crown and Press is stunning background for any event or a meet-up with friends. The staff were amazing too. By the way, it was a sushi making event with Joyce of Cooking (so the photos make better sense ;)

Unfortunately, I didn't like it. I didn't like it at all. The room is spacious, bright, but there is some kind of unpleasant smell... The coffee is not very noticeable. The dishes are not very clean. Peach scone without any peach at all. Brownie is not bad. I don't want to recommend.

Excellent first, of what is sure to be many, visit to Crown & Press. More than an art gallery, more than a coffee shop, a great place to meet with friends and family and enjoy a coffee or a drink. We planned a stop in for coffee but were diverted by the local brews (Fairweather and Grain & Grit). Beautiful, original artworks surround you in the gallery. Many are available as prints for a reasonable price. A wonderful addition to Ottawa Street. Highly recommend you plan a visit and expect to make many return trips. Loved it!
