“It’s been over 13 months for my home insurance claim to be handled. I don’t expect it to be resolved anytime soon. So disappointing. Abysmal service from Intact and Onside.”

“Pire cie pour les reclamations sont vite pour retirer ta prime mais quand ta un accident le dossier traine d'un agent a un autre. En plus l'evaluateur te donne une date pour passer voir l'auto au garage et voila 2 jours plus tard le garage a aucune nouvelle . “How can your claims team leave customers completely in the dark? It's over 35°C, we've sent three emails and called multiple times to get our furnace replaced so our A/C can work, and we've heard nothing. This level of communication is unacceptable. Can someone please respond?”Read moreShow less

“If you are looking for home insurance in Nanaimo, be sure to avoid Intact Insurance. I had water leakage in my home in March 2025. Their contract service, On-side replaced my flooring using United Flooring in Nanaimo. The leak was in March and the flooring did not get replaced until July 2025. In April 2026 I noticed that some of my new tiles were curling. United Floors were contacted and I had one short visit from an employee from United who confirmed that they would need to be replaced. He did no assessment of my entire floor. It is now coming June and I have had no further contact with United Flooring or Onside who is contracted by Intact Insurance. It appears that I am going to have to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket. AVOID THIS INSURANCE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They have no interest in serving their clients.”Read moreShow less

“I'm moving from Alberta to Ontario. I was on the phone with one of Intact Insurance unprofessional employees. My goal was to make a quote for auto insurance and tenant insurance. He said that his name is Mark Stephen which is probably a lie as he had a strong East Indian accent. He said that I have to provide him with Drivers Abstract. I said that I did a quote with 4 other companies and nobody was asking for it. That guy hang up on me without saying anything. I called again and the same guy answered. He told me that it's ok to hang up on the client because he needs the drivers abstract. TERRIBLE COMPANY WITH UNPROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES!!!! AVOID!!!!”Read moreShow less

“I would also love to rate this insurance company a 0. Absolutely garbage customer service. Every time I called in regarding my policy- every single person I spoke with was rude and gave me attitude. I did not renew my contract but they still withdrew a payment and when I called to enquire about why when I wasn't renewing I was met with the most rude agent. Crazy prices. This company does not care about you or provide support for your car. Garbage. Garbage garbage company. Will continue to tell people not to choose them. No one deserves their lack of treatment. “Je ne recommande pas Intact Insurance. Après plusieurs années sans accident et avec un dossier de conduite impeccable (0 point d’inaptitude), la prime d’assurance augmentait malgré tout, ce qui n’avait plus aucun sens pour nous comme clients. Nous avons donc changé d’assureur après avoir entièrement respecté toutes nos obligations financières. Nous avons même reçu des confirmations écrites en français et en anglais indiquant qu’aucun solde n’était dû. Malgré cela, deux ans plus tard, un dossier a été transmis aux agences de recouvrement. “Avis très négatif concernant Intact Insurance Deux ans après la fin de ma police d’assurance — avec un solde confirmé à 0 $ (zéro) de leur part — je reçois une alerte de TransUnion indiquant qu’un dossier de recouvrement a été ouvert. Montant en question : 27 $. Aucune communication préalable, aucune explication — directement aux agences de recouvrement pour une somme ridicule. C’est totalement inacceptable et abusif.
