They say never take your work home with you. But Chris Tierney does not live by this. His investment in his patients' progress and wellbeing goes beyond the borders of the Groundswell space. It goes far beyond the physio sessions in which his hands-on treatments provide immediate relief, while his knowledgable and technical guidance provides long term solutions. I have been seeing Chris for years and he has helped me through several sporting injuries from ankle and wrist sprains to shoulder dislocation. Very few physios will run into you in the real world, possibly even on a run, and check in on you. On a casual summer Sunday, you may run into him while out on a walk. He may see you from across the street and have already assessed your gait. He may remind you to activate your glutes in the morning or refer to his exercises to make sure you're not re-aggravating the same sore spots, before continuing on his way. His attention to detail and memory goes beyond the notes on his laptop and comes from the heart. "Never take your work home with you" but Chris will carry his patients in his heart always. And thats the kind of physio you're getting when you visit Groundswell.

I was preparing for an 800km walk across Spain (Camino) for my 50th and tweaked my knee two months before leaving. Chris was excellent. His approach was encouraging and optimistic, and his PT did the trick. I walked with confidence and was able to manage that memorable hike thanks to Chris.

Chris is one of the most knowledgeable physiotherapists I’ve worked with, and he also knows how to help you get back to your best. I first met Chris when I was returning to sports after a long knee injury, and he helped me feel confident again through his knowledge, clear guidance, and sport-specific movements. Since then, whenever I’ve had small injuries from time to time, his sessions have always helped me recover quickly and get back on track. I highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a physio who is knowledgeable, practical, and genuinely focused on helping you return to any activity.

I had an amazing experience at Groundswell Physio. I came to Chris with knee pain that I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. He had me do some tests and was able to accurately diagnose the issue. Turns out it was caused by my TFL overcompensating for my weak glute medius, causing IT band irritation at the insertion of the knee. By treating my TFL with IMS near my hip and strengthening my glute medius, my knee pain has gone away. I will definitely come back to see Chris for any future issues.

Saw Chris for a chronic rotator cuff injury that was affecting my tennis. He gave me a super clear treatment plan and got me back to playing tennis pain-free!! Highly recommend.

I’ve been dealing with some discomfort and pain from postural imbalances and Chris was great at figuring out what was going on. He did a really thorough assessment and looked at everything from my range of motion to how I move overall. He explained things clearly and showed me some targeted exercises to start addressing the issue. Really appreciated how thoughtful and helpful he was. Thanks Chris!

I’ve been working with Chris for over 10 years. As a former NCAA Div1 athlete, he’s been essential to continuing to maintain my body and manage multiple chronic injuries as I get older. Chris’ approach is methodical and tailors his treatment based on my injury history, helping me continue to play sports and stay active. Highly recommend Chris & Groundswell Physio!

Chris has been fantastic to work with. I came in dealing with foot nerve sensitivity that was limiting my ability to walk and train comfortably, and he took the time to really understand what was going on rather than just treating symptoms. His explanations were clear, practical, and reassuring, and the treatment plan felt thoughtful and targeted instead of generic. What stood out most was how methodical and patient he was throughout the process. I noticed meaningful improvement and felt more confident managing the issue on my own with the tools and exercises he gave me. I would absolutely recommend Chris to anyone dealing with nerve-related issues or stubborn injuries who wants a physio that genuinely cares and knows what he is doing.

Chris is an amazing Physio. I’ve had many sports injuries over the years and seen many different physios, but I’ve never had one that I liked better than Chris. He’s personable and super knowledgeable and has a perfect combination of hands on treatments and specific rehab exercises that I need for my shoulder rehab. Can’t recommend him enough!
