Called this facility to schedule a tour. Receptionist puts phone call on hold so they can speak with someone about it. However, they did not mute their end of the phone call and overhear them being told by someone else to just hang up. Which they proceeded to do. Incredibly unprofessional, if this is any indication of the treatment of residents, glad this bullet was dodged.

Caring, knowledgeable and friendly staff. From the PSW's to the nurses to the lovely lady at the front desk they made my brother and I feel comfortable moving our Dad in on Christmas Eve. Communication regarding Dad's daily routine have been excellent!Special thanks to Julie and Ashley❤️

Both of my parents are at Forest Heights LTC for 3 years now and they're very happy there. Although the building is a bit older but inside it's well kept. The floor and hallway are clean and clear of clutter. There is a lot of natural light in every resident room, lunch room, common space, and hallway. The facility staff makes their round throughout the day to keep the floor and washroom clean. If anything breaks, the maintenance team would respond within the same day. The nursing staff and PSW team are excellent, especially those in Gibbon House. They are always on their feet to look after someone so even if they can't respond to the bell call immediately but they know that there's a resident needing care and will reach out. They're treating residents with respect and dignity, as well as keeping family informed of every little updates such as medication changes, blood work, diagnostic results, physio treatment, leisure activities, etc. There are several activities everyday and on weekends they have free manicure for anyone wanted it. In the summer they also do gardening in the court yard. It was just a few activities that we observed but overall we see that there's a lot of human compassion and care at this home. The front line staff cares a lot about the residents and treat them like friends. They waved goodbye when the residents go out and give them hugs when they come back. They are trying to do their part as best as they can and attend to all residents as quickly as possible, so in return the residents & family also need to show a bit more patience and understanding. The staff at Gibbon House genuinely care for the residents!

I had an exceptional experience thanks to Julie, the Long-Term Care Facilities Lead Manager/Director (I am not sure her title). I arrived late in the afternoon on Christmas Eve without an appointment, wanting to see the interior of the building and hoping for some information as I explore LTC options for my mom. I did not expect much given the timing. Julie went above and beyond—she came out of her office, took the time to answer all of my questions, and personally walked me through the building. She shared a wealth of knowledge, and more importantly, her kindness and genuine compassion for the residents was immediately apparent. Her dedication truly made all the difference and turned what could have been a rushed or disappointing visit into a meaningful and reassuring experience. While the facility itself may be dated and weathered, the people inside are sincere, caring, and deeply committed to the residents. That makes all the difference when you are entrusting the care of your loved one in the days of their final journey. Julie exemplifies what compassionate leadership looks like, and my experience was truly above and beyond.

Reading the reviews of other people, it should be noted they were prior to COVID-19. My own experience of my father, prior to, throughout and after the pandemic, this facility has been excellent. Though he has passed away recently, I give this facility a four and half star rating as staff is excellent, professional, caring and compassionate which showed when my father was a resident. Even more so during the week that he passed away I praise the staff at this facility.

My family has a loved one residing at FHLTC. Our experience over the past few years has been positive. The most important aspect is that the PSWs and nurses are caring and engaging. When we need to contact staff, they answer and return calls as expected. If we have questions, we get answers promptly and with sufficient detail. In addition, we receive periodic phone calls from the staff with personal updates. The most crucial factor is that the resident's spouse feels that FHLTC staff delivers safe, high-quality care. It gives us peace of mind. Caring for and meeting the complex needs of hundreds of residents is a tough job. Thank you for serving our community.

I feel sorry for anyone that has to be a resident at this place. Things go missing, dirty diapers sitting on nightstands, food quality is so poor, the homeless eat better, and cleanliness doesn't exist. The high prices for retirement homes these days does not reflect the quality of service. If you can, please look elsewhere to send your aging parents, friends, and family. If there is gonna be any sort of outbreak it will happen here.

My husband resided here for seven years until his passing. Though these years have been hard for us as a family, it was the staff at the long-term care home that have been kind, caring, and supportive throughout all of them. I cannot thank the nurses, PSWs, and care staff enough for their generous care and big hearts.

I'm giving this facility 2 stars because the staff deserve stars. If my rating was solely based on the management team, I'd give none. Rude, unsupportive, uncaring; the Houdini's of disappearing when help or answers are needed, are the words I'd use to describe the management team. Of all the times I've been in this facility, not once did any manager introduce themself to me. Not once did any of them ask me for my name. Unrealistic expectations and demands of the staff who are managed by a team that sets a poor example of leadership. It's no real wonder why this facility is ranked amongst the lowest in the region, and it is NOT because of the staff. While I agree that aging has become a business, you still need some heart to work in this field, no matter what your role is, and after my experiences, I'm confident in saying that the management team at this facility, has none.

I am sooo thankful we did not end up putting my grandfather in this home. Since the outbreak was declared on April 1, there have been 178 cases in residents there and 73 cases in staff. To date, 51 people have died. How can you allow your staff to not follow protocol and make the home safe? Many other nursing homes have been able to handle and deal with the situation while it keeps getting worse at this home! It was already taken over by st Mary's for the staff not doing what was needed to stop covid from spreading. Just sickening. How many family's have lost someone just from this home? So sad Complete Coverage
