Stopped in on a Tuesday evening after a long day of meetings and was genuinely impressed by how smoothly the ice arena operation runs here. The boards were freshly resurfaced and the rink lighting was surprisingly good for a weeknight drop-in, which you don't always get at facilities like this. Staff at the skate rental desk were quick and actually knew their inventory, a small thing that makes a real difference when you're in a rush. If you're passing through Vancouver and want a solid, no-fuss arena experience, this place holds up well against a lot of what I've seen across the country.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at this YMCA. Unfortunately, every interaction I’ve had with Niklas at the front desk has left me feeling unwelcome. From our first interaction, I felt he came across as dismissive and condescending. On multiple occasions when I asked for help with issues related to my account and payments, I felt that he was unwilling to assist or even try to find a solution. Today, as I was leaving the gym, I once again felt uncomfortable because of the way I was looked at and treated. This isn’t an isolated experience, which is why I previously brought my concerns to management. I was hoping they would at least speak with him or look into the situation, but I didn’t feel my concerns were addressed. My expectation is that front desk staff should be approachable, respectful, and willing to help members. Based on my personal experience, I would recommend asking to speak with another staff member if you need assistance. I also shared with management that the way I was treated left me feeling singled out and concerned that it could be related to my identity. While I can’t know the reason for his behaviour, I believe those concerns deserved to be taken seriously and investigated. I sincerely hope the YMCA addresses this, because every member deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and supported when they walk through the door.

Exceptional Service from Nikolaus at the Robert Lee YMCA Front Desk! I had the pleasure of being helped by Nikolaus during my recent visit to the YMCA, and I have to say—he made my entire experience outstanding. From the moment I walked in, his warm, genuine smile and friendly greeting instantly made me feel welcome. He’s clearly passionate about what he does and goes above and beyond to make every member feel valued. What really stands out is how approachable and kind he is. In a busy front desk environment, Nikolaus manages to give each person his full attention while keeping things moving smoothly for everyone. He truly embodies the spirit of the YMCA—community-focused, helpful, and uplifting. If you’re visiting the YMCA, I highly recommend saying hello to Nikolaus. He’s a fantastic representative of this organization and makes the place even better. Thank you, Nikolaus—keep up the amazing work! The YMCA is lucky to have you. Highly recommended!

Love this gym! Such a wide range of equipment and so spacious. It does get busy at peak times but due to the size you can always do something else for a bit in the interim. It’s always clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly. Other gym members have overall been polite and not too annoying (minus those filming themselves in a budget gym - go to equinox). Love the pool and classes being included in the cost, too!

This gym used to be a fantastic place to workout. Over the past few years, however, it has certainly become far less attractive. Gym equipment is quite old and not kept in good condition. Numerous lockers in the more expensive Plus changing area are out of service because of faulty locks. Feedback to the gym on these issues is often not acknowledged or followed up on. It is often very crowded. The facility used to be a great place but now needs far more attention to raise its standards.

The staff were so friendly. The nice woman (French?) and other lady helped me get checked in, and explained the layout. There are lots of weights, the lockers were great, and pool was warm. This Y is very well maintained.

I’ve tried almost every group session here, and my favourites are Synergy and Strength. I’ve been a member for 2 years, and it really feels like a second home. I also love the steam room and hot tub, such a nice bonus after workouts. It’s a great place for newcomers who are looking for support and community. A special shoutout to Jacyntha, she has such amazing energy and real passion for the English classes. You will definitely admire her! Thank you for the community ♥️

One of the better gyms in downtown Vancouver especially if you enjoy using the pool as well. I have been going here for years but lately I’ve been very happy with a worker there by the name of Ibrahim. He is very knowledgeable on correct equipment to be used for specific muscle groups and always willing to help. Very happy to have him there and I really feel like he takes pride and cares about the gym and work he is doing there.

I’ve been going to the YMCA gym for a long time, and my experience has consistently been very positive. The facility has always been clean and well-maintained, which I really appreciate. The equipment is in great condition and there’s a good variety available, making it easy to have effective workouts. I’ve genuinely enjoyed my time there, and it’s been a great place to stay consistent with my fitness routine. Overall, I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean, reliable, and enjoyable place to work out.

Love this YMCA! I've been going here ever since I moved to Vancouver many years ago and it helped me build community in Vancouver. Best indoor basketball courts in the city and great competitive play. But it's more than basketball. It has a great gym, squash courts, swimming pool, sauna, steam room.. you name it. It really is a great place to get fit, but also make community.
