“Under staffed 4 hours and you don’t even talk with someone? Pretty sure there was a man with a broken hip and when I left he would have been 5 hours waiting to get a xray. The medical system is failing in so many ways and I just felt like they lost many good nurses and doctors when they forced them to do something to keep their jobs a few years back now. If I was that hospital I would be trying to hire more staff before they cause more damage to the people that live in the area. To add: nurses seem attentive and sweet and caring, they can only do so much, it’s not their fault their medical director is failing them.”Read moreShow less

“Something seems really off in terms of the oncology/cancer treatment here- we live in Canada and out of the many places (5+) that I have lived in across Canada the treatment here is embarrassing inept. From a grumpy nurse delivering very hard news in a non-compassionate way (recurring behaviour from one; nurses usually have to take courses to maintain their professional practice and behaviour and this one who talks about her disabled child to her patients highlighting her hard life while she is treating stage 4 cancer patients? Where is the mindfulness here or professionalism here?). Another question for all staff, now that we are using iPads instead of physical paper with a checklist of duties- why aren’t the nurses of doctors and doctors here following any of the same procedures/protocols to maintain consistency between patients and treatment? For example today the nurse had to be reminded by the patient to put heparin into a port after taking blood samples which could cause blood clots in the coming days. A simple checklist of procedures would remind and ensure proper steps are followed as we all are human and forget. I know there has been a struggle securing full time doctors in Oncology but the previous doctor who retired truly cared for his patients and encouraged hiring a regular doctor for the cancer unit. This is needed as doctors are being transferred from ER to work the cancer unit for 4 days a month and again protocols are forgotten like checking the “cancer markers” numbers for a patient before chemotherapy. What’s going on here? Simple practices to ensure consistent practices and care are upheld is not happening here making an already disabled person struggle more and vouch for themselves when their health and mental strength is weak. Please step it up professionals, you truly make a difference in many lives!”Read moreShow less

“While I've had very amazing experiences with the maternity ward, and the day surgery unit, Going for an ultrasound on a saturday this week (mar 2026),was a totally unpleasant experience. The checkin desk was closed so I went to the waiting area. No staff would acknowledge me or make eye contact. When the ultrasound tech finally came out and was short with me and seemed annoyed i was there. Just a little bit of kindness could have gone a long way.”Read moreShow less

“This hospital should be literally shut down. It’s been 3 months and they still haven’t booked me for an ultrasound marked as URGENT. For no reason they sent back the requisition to my GP practice saying they don’t do that( not true at all). My GP sent it back saying they are not requesting a mammogram but only an unltrasound. They called me saying the requisition is for both, which was not true again. As I refused to have an unnecessary test they sent it back to be corrected. It was already correct so my GP sent it again on a new form and that was 1.5 months ago! It’s RIDICULOUS and the woman from the ultrasound booking department should be fired as she is the most incompetent person I’ve ever met working in a hospital. I’m wondering how many people she booked for wrong tests.”Read moreShow less

“VERY greatful for the compassion and care I got from the team here. I injured myself monday afternoon in golden on the ski hill. Got told to come to cranbrook tuesday for a ct scan and it ended up only being a 4 hour day. The ortho ended up contacting her colleague to see if he could operate on my knee if there was time to do so on wednesday. He said yes! I am incredibly greatful for this as I would have had to have waited a whole week with a broken bone in golden otherwise. I ended up being an add on which meant I was last in line so I was VERY lucky they got me in so soon. Big thank you to nurse Heidi and marina and all the other dr's, receptionists, surgeons, volunteers and anesthesiologists whose names I unfortunately couldn't remember. Thanks a billion😊”Read moreShow less

“Thank you Cranbrook psych ward, all of the amazing staff and considerate and warm security for helping me get my life back. I had been trying for years to find the right medication, struggling endlessly through this economy crash, rental system and grieving so much loss when I hit a breaking point and needed hospitalization. In 9 days they restored me to a self that exceeds even the mental clarity i had in my teens and early 20s. I needed that moment to breathe and recalibrate realizing that for the first time in a really long time that I finally felt truly safe and was able to have a place to remind me what that felt like. Thank you xoxo”Read moreShow less

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our family will be forever grateful to the incredible team at EKRH. My husband was rushed into the ER with a severe gallbladder infection that quickly became life-threatening. Those first hours were some of the most frightening of our lives, and we didn’t know what would happen or how serious it truly was. From the moment we arrived, the ER team acted with urgency, professionalism, and kindness. They stabilized him, explained every step clearly, and treated us with compassion in the middle of so much chaos. We felt like real people, not just another emergency, and that meant so much to us. I especially want to thank Dr. Simmons. Your skill, leadership, and quick decision-making saved my husband’s life. Beyond your medical expertise, you took the time to explain things with patience when I was overwhelmed, and that gave me strength when I needed it most. We are also deeply grateful to the radiologist who performed the emergency drain procedure. My husband was in unbearable pain during that time, and you showed incredible patience, calm, and empathy throughout. The drain relieved the infection and gave him the chance to recover. We will never forget the care and humanity you showed in that moment. I also want to thank the nurse team, Andrew and Denise, for being our constant support during his stay. You monitored him tirelessly, managed his pain with such care, and never once made us feel like a burden when we had questions. You even took the time to guide us on how to look after the drain once we got home. Those gestures meant more than words can express. What stood out most to us through this whole ordeal was not only the high level of medical expertise, but also the kindness and compassion behind it. Every single person we met treated us with dignity, understanding, and genuine care. This was a life-changing experience for our family. We will never forget how this team came together to save my husband’s life and to carry us through such a frightening chapter with so much humanity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. — Lillian & YINING Zhou”Read moreShow less
