“After reading about the above parent writing about Dr. Lau's assessment of his children not requiring glasses being incorrect, I thought that I should add in my experience with Dr. Lau. I was an adult patient of Dr Lau's for many years and would agree that he is a very nice man. However, I kept complaining to him about my inability to see objects in the shade or shadows, if there were bright lights or the sun shining behind the objects. I probably noticed this starting at least about 15 years ago. Dr. Lau did not have any explanation for why I couldn't see objects in the shade or shadows. He would just nod, sympathetically. After Covid, I decided to switch optometrists and thank goodness I did. My new optometrist spent a lot of time checking my eyes at my first appointment and he kept asking if I had ever had trauma to my eyes. When I replied no, he finally told me what his suspicions were. He thought that I might have glaucoma. He immediately referred me to an ophthalmologist the next week. The ophthalmologist confirmed that I had glaucoma, which if left untreated would result in blindness. As it is, I already have permanent problems with seeing in low light situations. The ophthalmologist told me that I was VERY LUCKY that my new optometrist saw that my optic nerve was damaged and referred me to him. If you are a patient and finding that your optometrist is not able to answer your questions about your eyesight, PLEASE go get a second opinion! You only have 1 pair of eyes and as I have found out, you cannot regain your eyesight, once it is lost!”

“I regretted that I waited too long for 2nd opinion. Not only his equipments are old, his knowledge is not up to date. My kids have been seeing from ages 3 to 5. He kept saying that they don't need description glasses as their vision would improve as they age. After 2 years, things got worse, so we went to another optometrist. She adviced that my kids to have description glasses right away and she corrected the saying that kids eye sight would improve by itself is just wrong. Over the years my kids vision did improved with the correct prescription glasses and they need to replace every 6 to 8 months. My son is now 12 years old, I went to a 3rd optometrist, he adviced if my son had description glasses when he was 3, his eye sight would be much better. After hearing that, I had to take this time to write this review, so your child would not have the same experience. No offence, he is a nice guy. He probably fine for adults, but definitely not recommended for children or youth.”
