Brought my husband to the ER just before 7am and the woman at the desk refused to even triage him. Nanaimo ER triaged him right away once we got there and he received the care he needed. We shouldn’t have had to drive another hour one-way to find someone who would help.

I went to the Emergency Department today. Within an hour they had completed blood work (2), an ECG, a chest x-ray. After a short wait, a thorough and thoughtful visit with a physician. Cannot express enough gratitude for their kind and compassionate service. Thank you all at CDH-ED.

So thankful for the great staff at this hospital. They looked after me today after 5 days in excruciating pain nailing down the cause being a kidney infection. Everyone that I spoke to was respectful, informative & a few were funny.

Had a kid here. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone to get care here. Stay away from duncan hospital. I would recommend anyone to ask properly what they are giving you for shots. Seems that fentanyl is in almost everything but they don't want to tell you until after they give it to you. They don't seem to answer question (well) and usually are contradicting what they say ALOT. The nurse threatening to take the child with social services becuase I was wanting to get my family out as quickly as possible because the night before I asked for some help from the nurse and they said no at 2am when we were the only ones there that night ( new parents that didn't get much sleep). Then they tried lieing to say we had to stay, even tho I wanted to leave but still make sure everyone was safe and everyone got checked first , and done properly. To threaten a new parent like that is disgusting I hope new staff is hired for the new hospital. Some are great but its 50/50 here.

My wife had total hip replacement done at CDH yesterday. I cannot say enough positive about the staff and the way we were treated. Right away from the initial appointments getting ready for surgery to the procedure itself, it all ran perfectly. Absolute respect for peoples time in these appointments. Right on time and for exactly as long as they said they would be. To the nurse who came out several times realizing we were worried and gave us updates to all of the people we asked in the halls for directions who greeted us with smiles and info. The place is an absolute Swiss watch of an operation. I not only applaud all of these positions I also applaud the leadership as this kind of perfection is usually straight from the top. To all CDH personnel I congratulate you on a perfect performance. You deserve a brand new facility.

Monday April 6th at 1:30pm. Stopped in with my young son to get stitches. I wasn’t sure how the procedure went as we entered and went to registration to ask how the process went to get him registered(as luckily we rarely have to go to the ER) The nurse at the front desk was unbelievably rude and treated us so poorly we decided to leave and head north to the chemainus urgent care, where we were treated like humans and had a fantastic experience. I can’t believe we continue to tolerate such poor behaviour in this country. What has happened to Canada. If this woman worked at my place of business she would have immediately been fired. I understand nurses are over worked and tired but there is no excuse to treat a father and his son (or any other mammal for that matter) the way we were treated. Do better or look for a different career and spare the rest of Duncan from your terrible personality!

I went to the Duncan hospital yesterday and the nurses, radiologist and general staff were incredible, kind, understanding and caring. I am not sure of the Dr’s name that I ended up seeing but he could probably learn a thing or two from his nursing staff about empathy.

Yesterday I went to CDH for a total hip replacement, I found the nursing staff unbelievable they were very friendly and professional. The nurses in the operating room were great they made me feel comfortable and very informed as to what was happening, I think CDH should be proud to have these nurses

Professional caring staff. Well run and efficient. The hospital is indicative of an older, compartmentalized, smaller facility that has been required to make-do until a more modern facility can be provided to this rapidly expanding multi-cultural community. Perhaps the diverse cultural community could operate together to see a state-of-the-art modern, well-equipped hospital come to fruition.

We were here last night at 7:30ish. Was not so crowded that made us hope for a faster turn of patients. Was 5hours wait on their wait time screen. So we patiently waited, me and my husband. As we observe the moevement it was 2-3hours interval before the next patient will be seen. Was frustrating, we are not giving up though. Until 5 hours passed, 6 hours, 7 hours then worst he was said next for 3 times but waited for again another 2-3 hours. My husband got checked 4:30ish. This is a terrible experience for a person paying our taxes very well. We both work and need to called in for a very exhausting night. Imagine 9 hours wait??? What is going it with our health system? A promise of convenient access to health care looks like a joke. I hope we could improved this experience, its getting worst!
