“People need to stop crying about the fee's like if you can't afford the fee why are you an RMT in the first place. Listen, CMTO may not reply on time or Fee's may be unreasonably high but As a COMPETENT RMT You can make that money back with 10 Clients. Tired of people using economy and housing crisis as an excuse as to why they can't afford the fee's it's pathetic. you weren't meant to be an RMT in the first place if you don't have basic money managment skills to put Aside $90/m to pay for a $915 yearly fee. The privilege you have to be in a high demand field and yet you guys have the audacity to complain about a fee that can be covered in 10 treatment sessions. “After two years of investigation of my practice, the Inquiries Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC) of the CMTO made a conclusion of "significant deficiency in record keeping" for my case. I believe that the major reasons given for the conclusion were not convincing and not based on fact. ICRC accused me of missing files of three clients. However, I did not treat these clients at the spa being investigated. As a matter of fact, I never met one of the clients in my life, how could I have their files? Their files should be in some other clinics! Another reason given was that I gave a discount price to a client without proper explanation documented in his file. However, the client was charged and paid the same amount as the posted price. I have all the evidence. There was no discount. Missing registration number on a receipt issued to a client was also a reason, but actually my registration number was printed on the receipt for the client, it was covered by a dark mark made by the CMTO investigator. ICRC blamed me that the client’s name was missing on his Assessment record page. I am using an electronic file system. The client's name is on the top left corner of each page on the client’s file. ICRC of the CMTO made the mistakes, I have to take the consequences. I was ordered to take e-Workshop courses and mentoring. When I filed complains, they replied that the case had been closed and nothing could be changed. I feel frustrated, disappointed and helpless. CMTO educated RMTs to respect their clients and not to abuse their power to their clients, because the clients were vulnerable. The CMTO should do the same to their member RMTs. ICRC has the power and RMTs are vulnerable. RMTs work hard to serve their clients and they each pay $915 a year to the CMTO, RMTs deserve to be respected and treated fairly and responsively by the ICRC of the CMTO.”Read moreShow less

“My experience with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) has been extremely disappointing and discouraging. The registration and review process felt inconsistent, overly punitive, and lacking in transparency. Communication was often vague, timelines were unclear, and decisions appeared to rely on outdated or irrelevant personal history rather than present professional capability or conduct. While I respect the importance of public safety and professional accountability, I believe the CMTO’s processes need to be more balanced, evidence-based, and respectful toward applicants. Greater fairness, transparency, and communication would go a long way in restoring confidence in the College’s oversight and integrity. #DoBetterCMTO”Read moreShow less

“The CMTO is failing to support RMTs. They collect hefty license fees every year, but what do we get in return? Minimal support, no real advocacy, and no improvements for our profession. It feels like they’re just sitting back, taking our money, and doing little to actually benefit us. “The organization is useless. The programs they have in place for RMTs don’t help anyone or help grow the profession (STRIVE and Practice Profile). It’s tough to get ahold of anyone about simple questions. They take a lot of money every year yet have a website that constantly acts up. “I'm not continuing my membership this year and leaving the profession. These people don't care about RMTs (or people in general) and charge essentialy 1k to maintain a license.
