“Help in overcoming trauma and hyper vigilance I first consulted Brian for help in situations of trauma caused by having a condition of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Because of the neurological stress caused by this condition, I had developed a constant state of hyper vigilance sometimes even without any real chemical triggers. At a certain point, I could not distinguish between a real chemical assault and an object or situation that simply seemed associated to one. Brian got this. He was immediately present, taking in what I said, exploring with me the history and symptoms I had been living with. then he began to use EMDR, with my eyes focusing on the back and forth movement of the light and my mind focused on an image he encouraged me to evoke around my fears. After a few sessions doing this , talking about the fears and symptoms, evoking images around them and following with with an EMDR session I began to be able to actually integrate certain situations i had been too afraid to try. Each therapy session had about 4or5 short EMDR sessions and I have to say that this technique helped me and my system to make the difference between a real trigger to avoid and one set off by association and catastrophic thinking. I worked steadily for several months and then on and off for a couple of years. I continued because I found that Brian's capacity for empathy and grasping the core of very different life situations was unique. it's like he had the knowledge of a psychology professor, the expertise of long time practitioner fo EMDR and the empathy of very wise experience dtherapist. A five star person. And I should know. A therapist myself, i have to choose very carefully the professionals I need for my own health.”

“I booked two sessions with Brian; a whole-day session and a half-day session. Brian was a light unto me in some of the darkest periods of my life. As someone who has lived with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and anxiety most of my life, I came across EMDR as a potential healing modality for OCD, and came across Brian’s profile. It resonated with me, and I took a shot at booking him. While I find that the EMDR in and of itself wasn’t particularly revolutionary for me (this can also be due to the infrequency of sessions, and also because therapeutic approaches are processed very subjectively from person to person), Brian himself is a tremendous beacon of dignity and emphatically skilled at holding space for his clients. His profound empathy for the human condition is showcased through his truly seasoned experience as a social worker and in his remarkable way of making one feel seen, heard and met exactly in the crucible of their pain. I felt so comfortable bearing the crosses I was carrying to Brian, and the way he helped me to reconnect to my inner child in such a tender and emboldening way was simply astounding. He carefully guided me into the EMDR process by taking the time to holistically address the various parts of my experience, including my joys and strengths. I once was told that therapy isn’t about the therapy itself insomuch as it is the therapist, and I can say with confidence that Brian is a superlative example of this, and meant to be doing this work. In my second session at some point, when I informed Brian that I felt the EMDR as it was to be too much for me, he was very receptive and had us switch gears to a gentler approach (using a pulsator instead of pointer), and we even switched to just talking it out at the end. I booked a discounted first session, and Brian so very generously offered me a second pro bono session when we were back in touch to discuss my state. He remained available to me if ever I needed to ask him anything post-session. His compassion is staggering, and the way he made me feel welcome during my time at his home office in Montreal is something I will never forget. I’m sad to know that Brian has now moved to Ottawa, but tremendously grateful to have crossed paths.”
