I have been receiving treatment from Dr. Ardeshir Omoumi for the past 4 months. He is the best doctor I have ever seen! His technique is very effective and he has excellent bedside manner. I will be referring him to anyone that’s in chronic pain!

My medical record shows that three years ago, both sides of my hip joints had surgeries and undergone replacement surgery, which seriously injured myofascia. The adhesion after surgery caused me great pain and a long rehabilitation journey. I was very fortunate to have experienced Dr. OMOUMI's extensive experience and advanced techniques, using various different needle insertion techniques to relax tense muscle and fascial structures, and then continuously treating pain movements that have moved to specific areas, just like undoing a knotted yarn ball, which made it difficult for me to take even a single step and require a cane. Now, not only have I lost the cane, but most people can hardly believe that I am someone who has undergone bilateral wide joint replacement surgery. Not only that, because pulling one hair moves the whole body, the aging muscles and fascia from aging will also move upward to the neck and shoulders, causing pain. After Dr. OMOUMI's medical skills correctly relieved the pain, I unexpectedly cured my tennis elbow, which had been uncomfortable for many years. Although the needle insertion process can cause several seconds of pain, I feel very brave, mainly because I completely trust the doctor. You understand that this is effective progress, although it also requires patience. After each session, I almost always say the same thing. "Thank you Dr. for almost saving my quality of life."

I have been dealing with chronic back and nerve pain for the last 4 years and got referred to change pain. Dr. Omoumi has been incredible. He is one of those doctors that truly cares about his patients and takes the time to listen to you and explain what is going on with your health. He also had your best interest at heart and comes up with treatments that work for you. I couldn’t ask for a better doctor. Highly recommend! Thank you Dr. Omoumi for everything you’ve done for me!!

I was referred here by my family doctor, and the front desk staff have been very kind and helpful. I was placed under the care of Dr. Omoumi for trigger point injections, and I’ve found Dr. Omoumi to be professional, attentive, and careful in managing patient pain tolerance throughout the treatment.

Review for CHANGEpain Pain Centre Over the past two months, we brought our son to the CHANGEpain Pain Centre. After numerous thorough examinations and treatments by Dr. Brenda Lau and Dr. Thangavelu, they finally identified the root of our son's problems: · An L5 disc herniation · An inability of the piriformis muscle to relax This explained why over a year of previous treatments had been so ineffective. Following this, Dr. Lau referred our son to Rachel Cheung for private 1-on-1 kinesiology sessions. Rachel is incredibly dedicated. She corrects every small detail of our son's posture, focusing on strengthening his left-side muscles to reduce pressure on his right-sided spine. With her guidance and support, his pain has decreased noticeably every week. He has progressed from only being able to exercise while lying down (due to severe pain) to now being able to stand and exercise. Before coming to CHANGEpain, we had spent over a year trying countless methods, including physical therapy, acupuncture, and hospital pain injections. We spent immense amounts of time and money, yet saw no real progress. We felt hopeless and lost. This past winter, our family fell into the shadow of mild depression. CHANGEpain has given us hope again. Thank you to every doctor, every receptionist, and every billing staff member at the centre for your patience and kindness. From the bottom of our hearts, we hope that in the near future, our son can return to a normal life, go back to school, and complete his program at SFU. Michelle

I would like to share my experience with Change Pain Clinic, as it has been one of the most stressful, confusing, and overwhelming medical experiences I have gone through. From the very beginning, I faced serious issues with communication, scheduling, and coordination. I received multiple different appointment dates at different times, which caused significant confusion and made it very difficult to understand which appointment was actually confirmed. Before my first appointment, I was instructed to download and use the Telus Health application and to be fully prepared ahead of time. I followed all the instructions carefully, completed the required steps, and made sure I was ready. On the day of my first virtual appointment, I joined the Zoom session at 8:00 AM as requested, even though my appointment was scheduled for later in the morning. I stayed awake all night prior to the appointment, and I was also taking medication, which made it very difficult for me to stay awake. While waiting, I contacted the clinic and explained my situation clearly—that I had been awake all night, was on medication, and might fall asleep at any moment. Despite this, I was repeatedly told to “please wait,” with no clear updates or assistance. I continued waiting for over three and a half hours on Zoom, without being connected to the provider. Eventually, after all that time, I received a call. When I explained my situation again, I was unexpectedly asked, “Do you want to cancel the appointment?” At that point, I was completely overwhelmed and frustrated. I had already been waiting since 8:00 AM, and by then it was past 11:30 AM. I could not understand how I was being asked to cancel after all that waiting and effort. What made the situation worse was that the reception staff spoke to me in an unprofessional manner, raised her voice at me, and hung up the call on my face. This was extremely upsetting and added significant emotional distress to an already exhausting experience. In addition to this, I tried repeatedly to cancel my later appointment scheduled for April 1st. Throughout the entire week prior, I made multiple attempts to cancel: • I tried calling many times, but no one answered. • I was directed to automated messages that provided a website, but every time I tried to access it, I received errors and could not proceed. • Emails and messages were not working or returned as “not found.” There was simply no effective way to communicate with the clinic. When I finally managed, with difficulty, to access the system on Monday, I was informed that appointments must be cancelled more than 72 hours (3 days) in advance, otherwise they cannot be cancelled. This was very surprising and unusual, as in most clinics, cancellations are allowed within 24 to 48 hours. What is even more concerning is that despite all these circumstances, the clinic did not attempt to contact me at all—no phone call, no message, no email—to confirm whether I would attend the appointment. This is a very standard and expected practice in all clinics, especially when there are strict cancellation policies in place. In my case, there was no way to reach the clinic before the 72-hour period, yet at the same time, I was expected to comply with that policy. This made the entire process feel extremely unfair, stressful, and impractical. Overall, this experience caused me significant stress, anxiety, confusion, and emotional exhaustion. I strongly believe that the clinic needs serious improvement in communication, scheduling systems, and patient support, as the current system is not patient-friendly and creates unnecessary pressure. I am sharing this experience honestly in the hope that it will help improve the process for future patients.

I have been under the care of Change Pain Clinic for several months, and I am truly grateful for the experience and support I have received. I would like to give a special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ardeshir Omoumi. From my very first consultation at Change Pain Clinic, Dr. Omoumi has been consistently compassionate, attentive, and deeply caring. He has followed my case from day one and continues to do so with genuine dedication. His bedside manner is exceptional — he listens carefully, takes concerns seriously, and makes you feel truly heard and respected as a patient. Dr. Omoumi goes above and beyond in his care. It is clear that he does everything possible — and even more — to ensure his patients feel supported and receive meaningful relief. His professionalism is matched by empathy, patience, and a sincere commitment to patient well-being. Managing chronic pain is not easy, but having a physician like Dr. Omoumi makes a significant difference. I am deeply grateful for his care, guidance, and the reassurance he provides throughout the treatment journey. He is an outstanding pain specialist, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Change Pain doctors are clinically excellent and their staff seem friendly. However, it's not a well run clinic. The doctors are never, ever on time. Expect at least a half-hour wait, minimum. There is no free street parking, so you'll be paying for very pricey onsite parking while you wait. They're seemingly incapable of answering their phones during business hours, so you can't even phone to see if your dr is running on time. Today, I wasted 3 hours of my time driving there, waiting for a doctor who was at least a full hour behind, then having to leave without seeing her because I had to be at work. I paid over $11 to park, and spent more money on gas driving an hour there and back. Unbelievably frustrating and stressful. It leaves the impression that their patients' time and money are meaningless to them.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a herniated lumbar disc. My condition was very severe — the pain in my lower back and leg was unbearable. However, I did not meet the criteria for surgery. I tried various treatment methods, but none were effective. I was almost completely bedridden and unable to walk. After waiting for half a year, Changepain Clinic accepted me as a patient. I still remember my first visit — I struggled to walk into the clinic with a walker. After a thorough assessment and diagnosis by Dr. Ardeshir Omoumi, he recommended TPI (Trigger Point Injection) therapy. Following the second treatment, given at two-week intervals, my pain was already significantly improved. Over the next year and more, I continued receiving TPI and other treatments. My symptoms improved step by step and to a remarkable degree. Today, I am able to walk several kilometers naturally and comfortably. I am especially grateful to Dr. Omoumi. He is highly skilled, patient, attentive, and approachable. Throughout more than a year of treatment, he provided me with tremendous help, guiding me out of intense suffering and giving me hope for full recovery.

The clinic, its services, and staff have such a strong understanding of chronic pain management, and the challenges that are unique to Individual patient care. I love the variety of GMV’s -virtual sessions on physical health (exercise, relaxation, and training) as well as sleep health, and other pain management sessions that are led by experts most of whom have experience, and a deeper understanding of chronic pain, fatigue, and illnesses. They provide genuine care, and support where we gain knowledge that we need in our individual pain journeys to better understand our body systems, and personal management of symptoms and flares. The techniques to develop strength, and training is adaptable, and they always care to provide alternatives to our individual levels for safe movement, that increases in difficulty for long term work in improving function, and mobility. I am so very grateful, and happy for the clinical treatments, and sessions that are MSP covered, giving someone with chronic lifetime illness the long term non-medicated alternatives, and support we need to not only manage our chronic pain but actually reduce it! Personally my Fibromyalgia symptoms, peripheral neuropathy, and lower disc pain & flares have greatly reduced since joining the Change pain programs. In less than 6 months, I have a better understanding of my overwhelming multitude of pain symptoms that was a huge challenge in the past 6 years for me with no reprieve, or support until now. I have finally found the place I needed for me to gain, plus I am continuing to gain great tools, and support to overcome, and live a more capable, functional, healthier, happier life. My Pain, and management has become less of a burden, and stress. My relationship with my body, and pain is now more positive, and I actually feel more motivated, and able to continue my life with pain & flares just being a piece of the pie that is my life! Pain is no longer the dark, looming elephant in my life! Thank you so much Dr. Lau to the entire team!
