By far the best facility I have ever seen for the elderly - Such a caring ambiance and the staff are fabulous and helpful - Please if my time comes put me there

Horrible. Elevators dont work. Dirty. Unfriendly and unprofessional staff. Residents smell like poo and pee. The floors smell.

I was at this location visiting. As I was leaving someone's loved one had passed away and was being taken out via the front of the building. People deserve to have privacy even after passing being brought through the front entrance past everyone at the desk and also other individuals who are hanging around in the lobby. There should be a back entrance where peoples loved ones get taken out not for the whole public to see

My mother has been here for approximately 4 months now and it feels like a lifetime. She has vascular dementia and is bed ridden. There are pros and cons to every place and I will list those, but before I do I want to say everyone I have encounter on a daily basis, are friendly here and sometimes it does feel like extended family. Even people I do not know, knows of my mom. Not sure if that is a bad thing, but I will take it as good. The below is my opinion and no one else's: Pros - big place, like a little city, where there are so much room for more - clean on the ground floor and inviting - staff are friendly and willing to help - lots of entertainment & food - Dr on site but not every day nor is easily reachable - having Nurses on site are amazingly helpful and comforting - Some PSW can become really quickly your fav, they learn the family habits and gels - Some PSW are what I like to call dementia whisperers. Works so well with my mom, then gets shift off somewhere else. - Laundry service is amazing and quick - Staff really do try their best with whatever is available supplies wise. - Try to keep the patients entertained as much as possible - Most of the PSW truly cares and you can see it Cons - lack of security - Lots of words, but falls short of reaching the right people - constantly have to do reminders to the people in charge - each floor washrooms need more cleaning at least twice a day and even on weekends - patients are left on their own way too often/maybe short staff? - Staff break time needs to be organized where all does not go at the same time - Some, not all, PSW are there for the cheque and it shows - PSW that click with the patient are being changed too often, it confuses the patients and family that just built a routine and trust. - psw that are filling in are not updated on patient before tending to them, which open for mistakes and safety for both - Some PSW fails to notify the nurse of any new marks, bites, or unusual health things when they should. - needs more than one nurse, so they they are not overwhelm due to specific timeline for each patient mediation. - Phone should be answer at all times, which means a destinated desk person even during the night. You are the connection to our love ones and not everyone has a 9 to 5 job. - Food really need some work. Not because they are seniors with maybe limitation for eating means the food needs to be tasteless or bare minimum. - selection needs to be more and clients eating in their room needs to be served first. - paying attention on what is being serve instead of how fast it can be done e.g. food allergies - smoking all over the ground should not be the case, especially for patients who wants to enjoy the weather as well and does not smoke or has asthma. This should be enforced. A security should be at the desk at all times. _ once it is time for shift change, there is no help in sight for at least an hour - at least 2 elevators are always out of service There are lots more that this place can do to improve, however it seems to be getting there slowly. No where is going to be perfect, but I will make sure my mom is given the best care as long as she and I lives. For now, its here and we are contend.

We have been very happy with the care that my wife’s 98 yr old aunt has received over the last few years. The staff called recently and advised that she was not looking good and encouraged us to come and say our goodbyes. We thank the staff for all their love, kindness and support.

My grandma is here now, about a year, and she has nothing bad to say at all. She loves it! She keeps going on and on about how the staff here are all super nice and attentive and take such good care of her. She keeps saying that anyone looking for a retirement home or LTC, don't look anywhere else, this is the place! She looks well and happy.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Well, I have bee around nursing homes for over 25 years, Castleview on Christy Street takes top spot in every category. The care the staff give to the residents is really beautiful. The dedication and diligence to their “calling” is evidently a vocation, not an occupation. Especially the PSW’s, which for many years were unheard of and almost invisible, now have become the champions. One motto that they live by is the real truth of the place in holding to the fact that THIS IS THEIR HOME” this is indeed lived by in the professional attitudes and treatment as if each resident is their great aunt or uncle. A memorable essence of alacrity is present thru the great moments in the resident’ lives, the compassion and love given in the ‘not so great’ moments. Each person, resident there is the recipient of all that is called for in the real human condition of how life is supposed to be. I must also add, that thru the Covid duration, all of this is evidence of their dedication, especially on the seventh floor Many blessings n shalom to all of you there

My mother has been here for just over a year. I feel Castleview has gone above and beyond keeping their residents and staff safe from covid. The place is always clean and clear of clutter in hallways. It is bright and airy. Thank you Castleview. Keep up the good work
