“Absolutely unacceptable. I waited over 5 hours after a 10hr work day and still never saw a doctor. At this rate, I’ll be discharged just in time to go back to work. This hospital is constantly asking the community for donations, yet patients are left sitting for hours wondering if they’ll ever be seen. How is it possible to have wait times like this? If staffing is the issue, then something needs to change because this level of service is unacceptable. I understand emergency rooms prioritize life-threatening emergencies, but waiting over five hours without seeing a doctor is beyond frustrating. The lack of communication and the endless waiting make for a terrible experience. Do better.”Read moreShow less

“My elderly Mother was transferred from Owen Sound hospital to South Hampton. The most unfriendly nursing staff we ever experienced. Went daily to visit my Mom, and never once heard a hello, or seen a smile. To be able to contact Mother by phone was impossible, they gave me an extension number for her room, but the phone in her room never rang, instead I had to be transferred from the nursing station to a portable phone that they took to her, not sure what that was all about but was ridiculous. In the end we took Mom out of there and brought her home because of very unfriendly care. The Doctors she had were friendly 😊 and caring.”Read moreShow less

“I had an amazing experience here. Expected to be waiting for hours but they took me within minutes. Still can't believe it happened but they likely saved my life. Everyone from the ER crew to the nurses to the doctors to the paramedics were top notch. Thanks!”Read moreShow less

“I had a very disappointing experience at Southampton Care Hospital today with Dr. Michael Varsava. I arrived around 10:30 AM due to significant joint pain that kept me awake all night and waited several hours before being seen. When I finally saw Dr. Varsava, I felt dismissed and not taken seriously. Despite explaining my symptoms and how much pain I was in, I was told there was nothing wrong. When I asked for a return-to-work note, he became upset and accused me of coming in just to “use him” for a note, which I found very unprofessional and upsetting. Patients come to the hospital for help and reassurance, and I expected to be treated with empathy and respect. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unheard and discouraged from seeking care.”Read moreShow less

“Sitting in this hospital is nonsense, I came in with a very sick family member who was clearly having a hard time staying conscious, lady at the desk wouldn’t let me speak for her and told me to let my half conscious family member speak. She’s internally bleeding and hasn’t ate or drank in 4 days, I had went up and told the lady at desk that the pain was getting to be unbearable and she was almost falling out of the wheelchair, the lady told us to go sit and wait our turn that if it was a real emergency we would of called 911.”Read moreShow less

“Worst experience ever. We have been living in this area for 20plus years now. We both pay high taxes and are citizens of this once beautiful country. We try to live healthy and avoid going to any hospital, the few times we have been to the ER mostly for our kids it has been bad to worse for wait times and when you do see the doctor they tend to dismiss you within 10mins. Today because our family doctor is booking 8 weeks out we went to the ER it was a 10hr wait. Don't know whats happening to Ontario's health system but its broken and its time for a serious fix. Maybe time for private hospital?”Read moreShow less

“It was horrible. Went in with my vertigo, told her I was anxious in wait room, and still on my shift for driving. So I needed to be In AND out. I was apparently called 4 times in one hour, which withb7bpeople ahead of me I told 2 to 3 hour wait time. Then asked to re register. And the printers were off line. So no manual abilities. It's a hospital, even a waitress can hand bomb information and then add it into a co.puter. no excuses. Critical or not sick people deserve better then 1 out 5 service. Accommodating the sick is a normal process. I left upset because I had previously given my information. In the didgal age a computer with a modern administration team should easily pass information along. Not fun nor did I get any help I needed.”Read moreShow less

“Came due to being sick, and wanted to make sure I was not contagious (strep throat, covid, pneumonia wise.) and don’t have a family doctor. I was questioned in triage and sat a few hours later. Also understanding that others could have more serious symptoms. The wait time was not an issue. But when I was sat in the room I was sat in. I ate my breakfast wrap, and got up to throw out my garbage to find the garbage bucket filled with puke. I went to the front receptionist who then asked Ryan to come deal with me again. And as Ryan was coming back to change the garbage and clean the room, they were already seating a new family with two littles in the room I was just sitting in and complained about. The lady who cleaned the room (who took about 30 seconds to do so) than left and never told me where to go. So I went back to the front receptionist who than got Ryan to deal with me again. I’d much rather go to wiarton or Owen sound than to deal with what I just dealt with there today. The way they handled things today made me extremely anxious and uncomfortable, I understand the no toleration for the disrespect to your workers. But being a patient coming in to make sure I am safe to go to my grocery store to get some soup, and being treated the way I was, was completely unacceptable. I than went to wiarton where they actually helped me, puffer and antibiotics. Where as Southampton hospital left me with a sinus infection which is extremely painful”Read moreShow less
