Overall pleasant stay, I think this is more a 4 star property. The service is nice but not polished. The rooms are newer but a bit worn In some areas. There were some minor snafus, particularly with the front desk staff. We really enjoyed the spa and pool area and found the food and beverage affordable. We had two meals here, the standouts were the empress g&t and the chicken tenders (lol). Reasonable prices on property. I would plan ahead and bring waters/snacks/drinks as there are no stores nearby. There’s one restaurant called the seahorse that is off property that we liked a lot! Definitely use their boat service to the gardens if you’re visiting. We actually saw more wildlife on the short 15 min ride than a 4hr whale watching tour we did! We managed to take Ubers easily and skipped the rental car and got to visit Victoria, Sidney, etc.

I really want to like this resort more than I do because the views, location, some of the food, massage, and architecture are great, but the negatives took away from it a lot. I arrived around 10:30 pm, tired after 11 hours of travel. There was no one at the desk for a long time so I just stood there. I called but no one answered. The front desk receptionist was not welcoming when she arrived. The room they gave me was on the top floor with a gorgeous view, but it was boiling hot. It turned out the HVAC was broken which they apparently knew but didn’t warn me about. They offered no options except a fan so it took a long time to cool the room enough for a very bad night of sleep. No apologies or any attempt to fix it while I was there for two nights. When I checked out, they said I would get a price reduction, but the receipt made no sense to me so who knows. The quality of the room is very shabby and in need of renovation by my standards. The water closet smelled like urine. I had several great meals and some very uneven ones (brown avocado, wrong item). There is a lot to like as well here, but in the end the negatives and terrible nights of sleep really took away from my much anticipated and expensive vacation.

This has been one of our least favourite hotel experiences to date. We arrived at approximately 1:00 p.m. and were told our room was not yet available. We decided to have lunch at the marina and spent about an hour and a half there before returning to the hotel around 2:30 p.m. We then waited in the main lobby, but no one checked in with us, offered assistance, or kept us updated on the status of our room. Eventually, I approached the front desk and was simply told that check in was at 4:00 p.m. For a resort that prides itself on customer service, we found the experience disappointing. Better communication and a little hospitality while guests are waiting would have gone a long way. When we finally received our room keys, we were given no directions on where our room was located. I spoke with the director to express our concerns, and while they listened, the overall experience had already left a poor impression. Once we entered the room, we discovered that the blinds were not operating properly. To the staff’s credit, they responded promptly and fixed the issue. We travel frequently and stay at many hotels and resorts. Unfortunately, this was one of our least enjoyable experiences, and based on this visit, Brentwood Bay Resort did not meet the level of service we expected. Randene

We recently stayed at Brentwood Bay Resort and had the most perfect getaway. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. Our check-in with Kaedan was seamless, warm, and friendly—such a wonderful first impression. We spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool, which was the perfect temperature, sipping delicious cocktails and soaking up the sunshine. It was exactly what we needed. In the evening, we dined at the Arbutus Room and enjoyed the stunning waterfront views. The food and atmosphere were exceptional, but what truly elevated our experience was the hospitality. Adriano, the Wine Director, is a true professional. His knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail made us feel incredibly well cared for throughout the evening. The wine selection is outstanding and clearly curated with great passion and expertise. Every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. If I could give Brentwood Bay Resort 6 stars, I would! We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

We recently hosted our company forum at Brentwood Bay with guests traveling in from across Canada to attend. The experience truly exceeded all expectations. Working with Samantha to coordinate the event was not only a pleasure, but she demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism, organization and hospitality that took the pressure off of our team allowing us to focus on other aspects of our event. The event space was beautifully maintained and perfectly suited for our meetings. The catering for the event was on schedule, delicious, and the staff were attentive & very lovely. They hosted our semi-private dinner in the Arbutus room, offering a thoughtful menu with a charming view of the harbour. We were a fairly large group, ordering a la carte. I would like to extend a gracious thank you to Thomas and the entire wait staff and kitchen for taking such good care of us and providing a lovely evening. The accommodations were incredible and a wonderful way to relax after the day. We would highly recommend to any organization looking to host and have an incredible event. I will definitely be back on my own. Thank you to the entire Brentwood Bay team!!

We enjoyed our stay in room 202. Room was very nice and comfortable. Bathroom door to the toilet closet was a pain but we managed. Pillows were too thick! Service at the Arbutus room was excellent! Seemed to be understaffed at our birthday/anniversary dinner but still excellent. Young man that served us on the evening of March 30th was wonderful and should be recognized by the manager. The food was wonderful. Ate in the pub 3 times. Twice for lunch, once for dinner. Food was good, liquor and food prices seemed high for a pub atmosphere. Lana and the rest of the staff were very, friendly and accommodating. We spent over $100 each visit to pub. We enjoyed a couples massage on the 31st and it was an enjoyable experience in very nice facilities. We used both the pool and hot tub and were nicely surprised by the warmth of the pool. We were dissapointed that the gym was closed for the three days we were there as that was one of the reasons we booked here. This info was not given to us at check in or on the website. Nice location, over all very good Thx Wayne & Donna

Our stay at Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa was nothing short of exceptional. We had a girls weekend to celebrate our birthdays, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were treated like gold. The resort itself is stunning—peaceful, elegant, and the perfect setting for a relaxing and celebratory getaway. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. Dinner at The Arbutus Room was a highlight of the weekend. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully presented. Thomas, our server, was absolutely wonderful—professional, attentive, and full of personality. He made the evening feel celebratory without ever being overbearing, and his service truly elevated our dining experience. Our spa treatments were equally memorable. We each enjoyed a Dead Sea Body Wrap including a mini facial and massage. The whole spa experience was calm, rejuvenating, and impeccably run. What truly sets Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa apart is the people. The incredible staff made us feel welcomed, celebrated, and valued throughout our entire weekend. A huge Thank You to Tracy Adriano, Lee, and the entire staff! It was the perfect place to mark a special occasion, and we left feeling refreshed, spoiled, and already planning our return. We cannot recommend this resort highly enough—for a getaway, a celebration, or simply a beautiful escape where exceptional service makes all the difference.

Pros: Very clean, cozy, spacious room with a genuinely luxurious feel. Loved the in-room Nespresso. Staff were warm and accommodating, especially the front desk and Lee at the bar. Housekeeping was excellent, room was spotless and thoughtfully refreshed daily with chocolates. Food was fantastic in both the pub and upstairs dining, especially the butter chicken, kale Caesar, and Korean beef bowl. Great views and excellent local wine. Pool is heated year-round. In-room jacuzzi was amazing. Cons: The hot tub wasn’t very clean and I got a small cut from something in it. The TV setup is outdated, remote barely worked, and only a few rooms have smart TVs with no guarantee. No on-demand options so you’re stuck with extremely minimal outdated cable. The sauna was advertised to open in early March but wasn’t available during our late March stay, which was disappointing. Overall: Really enjoyed our stay. The town itself isn’t the most exciting, but it’s very close to beautiful Victoria.

Room 5/5, restaurant 0/5. The room was great, location beautiful, staff were lovely. No complaints at all about the accommodation. Unfortunately the food at Arbutus restaurant within the resort receives no stars from us. Service was great, but food was not. I ordered the halibut.. it was dry, cold, absolutely NO flavour (not even from the fish itself), just a grain of salt and I might’ve given 1 star. My partner ordered the cauliflower steak, literally a small piece of uncooked cauliflower, cold, and seemed like $2 worth of ingredients. Presentation was nice but both of our portions were a small entreé size. Mentioned to waiter but no compensation offered. After forking out almost $100 we left hungry, confused, and dissapointed. Having said that, we ate at the BBR pub the previous night and the food was amazing!! Fish tacos and Mediterranean salad were great! I have only ever posted reviews if I enjoyed the meal, and this is my first ever negative review, but just thought I had to. We hope that the Arbutus Room & Bar can take this, and other feedback we’ve now seen, as constructive criticism to avoid future disappointment from paying customers. Cheers

Felt completely spoiled. There is something truly special here. Starting with the staff, Adam especially made our stay feel extra lovely from the moment we arrived. The welcome at the front door set the tone right away, and the restaurant team was warm, fun, and genuinely engaging. Even the small details, like the thoughtful messages and personal touches along the way, made it clear that everyone here goes above and beyond. The room view was stunning, the kind of picture perfect scene that makes you pause for a moment just to take it in. The bed was dangerously comfortable, the kind that makes you briefly consider cancelling all plans and ordering room service forever. And I have to mention the phone in the room that lets you call for bubbles, which might be one of the most charming and slightly dangerous features I have ever encountered. This was my first time visiting Victoria, and I can honestly say I would stay at Brentwood Bay every time I come back. It feels tucked away and peaceful, yet it was easy to get downtown and close to a golf course as well, which made the location feel like the best of both worlds!
