“I tried emailing about this but haven’t heard back, so I’m posting here. I had a really uncomfortable experience at your 16 Ave SW location on Sat, Jan 3. A few weeks ago, I’d narrowed down a couple wire frames with nose pads with the help of an associate, and I came back excited to purchase them. When I returned I showed photos of the two options to the same associate. She told me one wouldn’t work with my prescription, but wouldn’t clearly explain whether the other would. Instead, she kept bringing random coloured/plastic frames I didn’t ask for, even after I stressed I was looking for gold or silver. When I said a couple pairs looked too small, she snapped at me and said anything larger would look “ugly” on me. That was hurtful and completely unnecessary. I left in tears and will be buying elsewhere. Definitely not the kind of experience you want when you’re trying to buy glasses.”

“I recently learned I need to wear my glasses more and contacts less. This was worrisome because the glasses I had typically purchased, I only would wear at night as the lenses had always made me feel uncomfortable and even dizzy or sick when I would try and wear them out during the day. I was first recommended to Brass Monocle by people I met through my work, that told me a higher quality lens might help with the issue I had wearing glasses during the day. Even an optometrist I spoke to at a regular chain glasses store suggested them for the level of lens quality I was looking for. That’s what finally convinced me to go. I’ll be honest, I assumed Brass Monocle would be out of my price range since it’s in a luxury retail area and carries frames you won’t find in a typical glasses store. However, from the moment I walked in, I was treated incredibly well and never once made to feel out of place. The team took the time to educate me, helped me try many frames, explained what suited my face, and where the lenses should sit in relation to my eyes and brows, things no one had ever explained before. I was also happy to learn that the range of cost for frames they pulled for me, were well within my benefits coverage. The experience was so great that I recently went back to have custom clip-on sunglasses made so I can regularly wear my glasses out. Amazing process, amazing people, and truly exceptional service. Highly recommend.”

“Very disappointed with my experience with the management of this location. I recently purchased a set of frames and lenses, and within 6 months the arms had loosened to point of one of the arms falling off. Having worn glasses my whole life, I understand that occasional tightening / maintenance is required - however maintenance to the point of losing an arm within 6 months leads to a vendor / manufacturer defect. What should have been a trivial conversation, and a solution orientated discussion resulted clear dismissal in a tone and cadence. This manager spoke in a condescending and patronizing manner, and am honestly shocked with the lack of respect; give that frames start at 600 dollars in this store. They out right lied about the solution, stating and making myself purchase the parts to bring parts in - they ended up warranty claiming the frames regardless. I will not be recommending this store, and please treat people with the respect given.”

“We have been customers for many years. We change up our look every few years; we browse a lot in between purchases and never feel pressured or obligated to buy. They have a great selection (maybe best in the city) of designer frames in the latest styles. They are very knowledgeable, helpful and patient; they are more interested in you making the right decision than simply making a sale. Their after-sale service is amazing. Thank you Tabitha and her boss for salvaging my favourite Theo frames. I was so happy and relieved. And thank you to Logan at Mount Royal for the excellent customer service. You knew exactly what I was looking for and made excellent suggestions.”
