“My father lost his hearing aid charger while on vacation. Michael was able to help me find a compatible charger - free of charge - despite my father not having gone to this clinic to get his original hearing aids. Thank you very much Michael and staff! We really appreciate it!”Read moreShow less

“Every staff here is very friendly and patience. The examination was also very thorough and comprehensive. This doctor can speak a bit of Cantonese and Mandarin. You can bring your child here for the free annual check-up as well. Highly recommended.”

“Michael at Boardwalk Hearing was amazing. I’ve got some moderate hearing loss from years of DJing and electrical work, and he patiently guided me into the right set of Oticon Intent hearing aids. Super knowledgeable, easy to work with, and I’m really grateful for his help. Highly recommend!”Read moreShow less

“Having to wait three days to get an appointment with the optometrist after I went practically blind in one eye after undergoing a procedure for improving dry eyes was not acceptable. Failure to follow up to see if I was recovering from the temporary blindness in one eye arising from their procedure was very poor standard of care. The procedure involves pointing a series of red light pulses around the eyes with the goal of killing mites in tear glands. The procedure costing $600 a pop is heavily promoted in the company’s newspaper advertising that hint it is also good at moving wrinkles around the eyes. The first treatment went well with no problems, although I noticed no improvements. You learned ahead of time that it could take up to four treatments to be effective. The second procedure also went by without a hitch. The procedure itself is carried out by a technician named Natalie who is very gentle and explains every part step by step. The optometrist is not in the room when the procedure is carried out. A few hours later I noticed something was wrong with my right eye. At first it was like a light mist but gradually got to the point where it felt I was trying to peer through a thick fog and could barely make out the edges of furniture. First thing the following morning I called the office to tell them what had happened and my concerns. I was offered an appointment in three days for what I regarded as an emergency due to the eye going blind overnight. Normally the eye is treated as soon as possible to prevent any further damage but the urgency of the situation was ignored and I was treated just like an ordinary customer who happened to have a blind eye as a result of a procedure carried out at that office. Three days later I got to see the optometrist who gave a rather cursive look at the eye and said she could not explain what had happened and nothing was done. I had a third appointment booked but phoned to cancel it. I had already wasted $1200 on a procedure that had caused very foggy eye-sight. After my three days of waiting for an “emergency” appointment I had received no follow-up phone call to check if my condition had improved at all, which should have been a minimal standard of care. Neither did I get a call to discuss possible risks of the booked upcoming third procedure.!Again no caring or minimal standard of care. It appears that because they got my $1200 and they realized that I would not be paying for another appointment they quickly lost interest. Very unprofessional follow-up.”Read moreShow less

“After having been told by another optometrist that I would not likely improve my vision with a different prescription and being nudged to have a procedure done that would not have addressed my primary issue which was binocular vision, I landed on Boardwalk Optometry who specialize in addressing this condition, among others. One of the things that drew me to Boardwalk was the fact that it was family business, something that is so rare these days. And from the moment I first walked in, I knew I was in the ideal place. The administrative staff were genuinely friendly with welcoming smiles that immediately put me at ease. Everything was explained to me from the get go and at each stage of testing. Subsequent visits have been the same. Dr. Lauren Kamachi spent an extraordinary amount of time testing and consulting with me. Her deep concern and equally profound interest in my condition and my ultimate well-being is something one doesn't often experience in healthcare these days. But I was made to feel like I was her only patient. I was prescribed prism glasses, which I chose to order inhouse. Their prices were reasonable and the expert optician was beyond helpful. In fact, the first pair of frames they suggested, based on the complex prescription and unusual lenses I needed, were perfect and the ones I selected. And when I picked them up, they fit me perfectly and no adjusting was needed. When I returned for a followup visit with Dr. Lauren, the opticians took the time to say hello to me and even remembered who I was. But the real joy was being able to see better than I had in over eight years. It was like a whole new world opened up to me. I was finally able to see and fully appreciate the spectacular view from my home, to read subtitles on foreign films, to walk the streets and in nature with great surety of foot, and to confidently return to driving. I was overwhelmed in the most positive of ways and was close to tears when I thanked Dr. Kamachi for the gift she had given me. After only a couple of months of wearing the new lenses, my eyes are showing evidence of stabilizing, and though my vision journey continues, I have such great confidence that Dr. Lauren will get me through next steps. I'm so grateful for finding Boardwalk Optometry, and for being heard and understood. My experience reminded me how important it is to find open-minded and open-hearted doctors who go beyond the call of duty to help one return to a place of equilibrium, health, and peace of mind.”Read moreShow less

“Just had our first visit myself and two kids ages 9/11 and this place is amazing! We are moving from another business and really notice the friendly, down to earth and knowledgeable vibe. I was recommended this place by a few people and after one visit am really happy with Dr Kyle and the team. I didn’t feel like I was being upsold and the staff was welcoming.”Read moreShow less

“Great experience at Boardwalk Optometry for a sudden eye issue I was having. Reception was extremely helpful with my 8am call. I was able to get in quickly with a friendly and thorough test/diagnosis with Dr Wong and his staff. This office is very well equipped as I have been to many! Also family owned. Thank you! Will be back.”Read moreShow less
