“Don't come here for a contact lens prescription if it's your first time. They don't give you your base curve or diameter which you need before ordering contacts. They also lied and said the prescription was complete but it wasn't, and that nowhere gives contacts to new people. I absolutely was given a free pair when I did mine at a different place (and shown how to take them out and put them in). She then said that they don't have anyone in to show you how to do it atm and are taking appointments for June I believe. Waste of money especially if you're from out of town. Beware. There's a reason why this place has availability and nowhere else doesn't.”Read moreShow less

“been here twice to have my glasses fixed. I just went in, asked them if they could fix my glasses, asked what was wrong and they had it fixed for me in less than 5 mins. “I have to say right off the start that if I was writing this review before Dr. Bense senior passed it would be a 5 plus rating. I should mention that my last surgery took place 3 years ago just before Dr. Lacosha left. I dont know if they have a replacement yet. I had surgery preformed by Dr. Bense about 25 years ago with astounding success which lasted at least 20 years with excellent vision and no glasses. Age was the reason it started to slip, or at least it felt like it since I had better than 20/20 all those years. I went back to see about a touch up. Dr Bense junior said I was a good candidate for a touch up. I made another appointment, a second trip from central. When I met Dr. Bense Senior after taking the valium and just before surgery he checked over the chart while frowning. He said he had to check my vision after which he pushed back his chair and said he doesnt not feel comfortable preforming the procedure because my vision was barley below 20/20. He said it feels less to me because I had better than 20/20 for so long. He gave me a full refund and suggested to wait another few years for recheck. I did wait and went back but unfortunately Dr. Bense senior had passed. Dr. Bense junior suggested I have both eyes done the same time, one for close and the other for distance. Stupidly I trusted him and agreed but when I went for surgery the staff strongly suggested only having distance done and if all went well have close up done later. That surgery went well. A while later I went back from close up but that did not. I wont get into details but I was not impressed with the procedure but that had nothing to do with it not working. I let maybe 6 months go by for complete healing but my vision was worse than before I had the procedure. I called and spoke to them and they said I have to pay for another consultation to see why it did not work. That was the last straw. I never went back. “Despite red flags, Dr. Bense classified me as the "perfect candidate" for the iLasik (monovision) procedure and I did not meet the surgeon, until the surgery itself. Since the procedure was done (August 2021), I have struggled with complications as my sight did not 'link up' but rather left me with a slight blur in my intermediate field of vision. Prior to surgery, I needed glasses only for driving at night. Post-surgery, I no longer need glasses for driving but I can not read a computer screen or a price tag at 2' from my face. I now battle with extreme light sensitivity, a drooped eyelid (most noticeable when tired), night vision issues, and excessive dryness and burning. The mental anguish has at times, been unbearable. Financially, To date, I have spent $1000s on vision therapy, IPL laser for dryness, duct plugs, eye drops, gels, ointment, medications, and heat compressions. Eight months post-surgery the surgeon told me that the procedure was unsuccessful and my options were to get glasses or a touch-up surgery that comes with a 30% of needing a second touch-up. I trusted Dr. Bense with his assessment but like others I have met in the last two years, I now live with the pain and regret of laser surgery.”Read moreShow less

“I would not recommend this practice. Dr. Bense was extremely impersonal, and didn't even introduce himself at the beginning of my 2 minute-long eye exam - until I received my receipt I had no idea who performed my exam! I did not feel I was given the opportunity to ask questions and was simply told at the end of my exam that because I had Lasik in 2017, I see 20/20. I figured there would be a nominal prescription and that I could come back to purchase lenses when needed. I have since asked for my prescription but was again told that because I had Lasik back in 2017 I don't have a prescription. As an optician assistant, I know that not to be the case and I have glasses from 2019 that are no longer correct. When I asked to be seen again I was told there would be a partial charge of 47.50. I have also inquired over the phone about purchasing lenses and as the optometry staff don't even know lens prices, I was transferred to the optician who failed to answer the phone. I would strongly recommend you seek services elsewhere rather than provide support to this disjointed setup who is clearly more interested in pumping out surgical patients than providing decent patient care and customer service. Even though my eye exam coverage has been used up for the year, I will pay out of pocket and go somewhere else for a second opinion rather than continue on at Bense.”Read moreShow less

“Premium lenses at an equally premium price. If high-end glasses are what you are in the market for then you'd do well to pay this shop a visit. There may be a wait if you don't have an appointment, so consider making one.”

“I went here for Lasik eye surgery and couldn't be more pleased with the results. No doubt it's an expensive procedure but you know what they say, you get what you pay for. All the staff are lovely and very helpful, the doctors are professional and explain everything clearly. Appointment scheduling was flexible and the procedure was quick and painless (if a little uncomfortable at times). I would recommend the procedure for anyone burdened by glasses and I have and will continue to suggest Bense as the best place to have it performed.
