TERRIBLE. My Cousin resides at AgeCare SkyPointe and the amount of food given to a grown man is barely above starvation rations. One ( 1 )skinny pork chop, a small scoop of potatoes and a few vegetables for dinner is a joke. When my Aunt asked an Attendant about it, it was suggested that she bring food from home for him. Is this what Alberta Health Services has come to ?? CEO “ SALIMAH WALJI - SHIVJI “ should be ashamed of himself and not that the Board of Directors care anymore than him but He should be replaced. Then again, I’m sure a mega severance package would cut into the food budget. Get your Act TOGETHER !!! God bless anybody who has to rely on a inhumane amount of sustenance at this facility and probably many others in Calgary Alberta.

We feel incredibly fortunate that my 92-year-old mother is admitted to this facility. The proximity of the hospital next door is a significant advantage in case of any medical emergencies. Additionally, the facility’s location near family members allows us to visit her almost more often, which is a great comfort. The facility assigns regular staff to care for the residents, ensuring familiarity and trust between the staff and residents. Unlike some nursing homes that subcontract tasks, AgeCare hires their own PSWs, which enhances the quality of care. Woodhaven, once known for receiving numerous complaints, has seen remarkable improvements since AgeCare took over. The facility is now renowned for its compassionate care, attentive staff, and well-maintained environment. The management is both responsive and proactive, ensuring that residents’ needs are promptly and efficiently met. Despite my mother’s language barrier, the staff make commendable efforts to communicate with her using show-and-tell methods, gestures, and translation cards. Recently, when my mother fell in the middle of the night, the staff immediately informed us and sent her to the ER, keeping us well-informed throughout the process. AgeCare employs a comprehensive team, including an Activities Coordinator, Dietitian, Nutritionist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, RNs, RPNs, and PSWs. They also collaborate effectively with their contracted pharmacy. We are truly grateful for the dedication and hard work of the entire team at AgeCare Woodhaven. It gives us immense peace of mind knowing that our beloved mother is in such capable and caring hands. As I can only write this review for my mom’s ward and the staffs responsible for her floor. I hope this review can help other families who may be making decision to this facility.

my mother 's safety was in danger, another resident came into her room and grabbed her hand and hurt her,a male resident ,this resident did this numerous times coming into my moms room stealing her dinner, this time,(last Friday) he grabbed her, my mother called me via the nurse hysterical!!!crying that she needed to get out of there ,that it wasn't safe, the manager was contacted after I filed a police report .the manager told our family that he would get moved ,and he would have a 1 to 1 to watch him ,that was a lie! he never did have a 1 to 1 and with my sister in the room he tried to get in again! there solution was to lock my mom in her room!! for the last 3 days and counting...the manager said they were working on getting him moved, then said they had to have a meeting with his family.NOT IMPRESSED!

this company bought the place I've worked at for almost 10 years. agecare has since run it into the ground. this company can't afford to order us basic supplies we need to do our jobs. they also can't adhere to our collective agreement and they do not pay us properly and have taken away countless benefits that we used to get. the HR representative we have refuses to help the staff in any way and never returns phone calls or emails, the food is terrible and the residents often refuse to eat it and are frail from not eating, and we are constantly running out of basic supplies such as garbage bags, all sorts of food, nursing supplies, coffee(for the residents), disposable briefs(adult diapers), our equipment isn't being serviced, carpets not being cleaned, gardens are not watered and are a fire hazard as well as ugly and dying, the roof is in horrible shape and needs replacement, there is dust everywhere and lots of bugs/spiders inside, drains ands sinks are disgusting and stink, beds are literally falling apart and there's electrical tape holding the bed remotes together, call bell system is broken and has been for over a year...I could go on for hours, it's so so bad. i am shocked that no one is fixing this. worst company ever

After a few days of the hard work of the staff looking for my mum’s denture they manage to find it and just would like to thanks them and also to apologize for the earlier review, my mum is happy to be there. Good work.

My mother is been there 2 months now and she has lost one of her hearing aids and all of her dentures and the staff looking after her just didn’t know where the stuff is, this is costing us over $3000, do these people have any responsibility?

I don’t know what your protocol is for hiring … but never in my life have I ever seen such a lack of patient care or support !! Heaven forbid if anyone at AgeCare Sunrise in Brooks had to actually accept responsibility… or give an answer … all we ever get is I DONT KNOW ! DIDNT HAPPEN ON MY SHIFT! What a joke ! So instead of trying to talk to DOC … I have talked to my lawyer … and then to Alberta Elder Abuse! At least they were willing to listen….

The staff are disrespectful and refused to answer any questions regarding facility protocol. We had a scheduled family event planned and were denied access to my grandma upon arrival without ANY explanation as to why she wasn't allowed to leave the facility. The distress it has caused my grandma is abuse. They should not be allowed to hold patients hostage when we pay them for their services. When I called and was connected with the charge nurse for her unit I was hung up on. Expect this type of service.. 10/10 do not recommend.
