Concussion management: I am part of the health care team at the Sport Medicine clinic at Carleton university, where I collaborate with the doctors, physiotherapists and psychiatrists in providing concussion management, especially post-concussion syndrome (PCS) to athletes and members of the community. Sport Psychology: I help athletes enhance performance by using evidence-based strategies in overcoming obstacles and barriers. These include, but not limited to, improving attentional focus, managing anxiety, visualization and goal setting, motivation and team building and improving overall well-being. Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy involves developing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship with the therapist, in order to work collaboratively in overcoming problematic behaviours, understanding distressing thoughts and managing difficult emotions. Depending on client needs, I use different therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, ACT, psychodynamic therapy, MBSR, IPT and existential and humanistic, and supportive therapy. ADHD Assessments: Lorena conducts ADHD assessments* for adults struggling with undiagnosed ADHD. The purpose of an ADHD assessment is to assess the possible existence of ADHD using a standard ADHD battery that includes assessment of psychiatric and academic history, current symptoms, cognitive functioning, and level of impairment related to these symptoms. Symptoms might look different at older ages and a diagnosis is based on the criteria outlined in the DSM 5-TR. For more information visit https://www.caddra.ca.
