Clifton Charie is a lifelong learner who loves solving problems of every kind. Shortly after graduating from the physiotherapy program at McGill University in 1984, he began taking courses to become a registered acupuncturist. In 1990 Clifton established Orleans Physiotherapy, the first private practice serving families in Orleans. After completing the requirements to be a certified acupuncturist with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, he began exploring German Auricular Therapy courses (ear acupuncture.) He finds auricular therapy particularly helpful in treating people with chronic pain where traditional physiotherapy methods have not been successful. For clients adverse to needles, Clifton has mastered auricular therapy using the RJ Laser. He continues to hone his acupuncture skills by taking courses for neurological issues. Clifton was one of the first therapists to purchase a Shockwave machine, which has proven a useful tool for treating joint and tendon problems. When Clifton isn’t helping clients at the clinic, he can be found volunteering at the Ottawa Tool Library. He has also helped build homes in Orleans with Habitat for Humanity. He often volunteers his physiotherapy services at ultimate tournaments, a sport his two adult sons play passionately. In the summer Clifton enjoys gardening, cycling, canoeing, hiking, and camping. In the winter he enjoys cross country skiing, playing badminton, reading and puttering in his workshop.
