À propos de Anne

Anne Duré, M.A. (Counselling and Spirituality); Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) So many people arrive at therapy carrying the quiet belief that they have to hold it all together on their own—that parts of who they are need to be shrunk, softened, or explained away to be accepted. Some have never seen themselves or their communities reflected in how healing is talked about or offered. Others have moved through spaces of care that didn't quite fit, didn't quite understand, or didn't quite make room for the fullness of who they are. I know this gap personally, and I've also seen it through my research on the adultification bias and the disruption of Black girlhood—how systemic harm can quietly reshape a person's sense of self, safety, and belonging, and how some people are treated as less innocent and less deserving of care, even within the systems meant to support them. What I've come to understand is that this gap shows up in many forms. It lives in the pressure to perform, to be "fine," to keep going without pausing. It lives in feeling unseen, misunderstood, or like you have to earn the right to be cared for. The problem I care most about is what happens when people are left to carry their pain alone, in spaces that were never built with them in mind—and the work I strive to do is to help close that gap, one relationship at a time. My approach I work to close that gap by offering care that is inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive shaped around you, your story, and your needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model. I don't believe therapy is about handing you the answers. It's about creating room to pause, breathe, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. The result When people feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued, something shifts. They stop having to perform or justify themselves and can finally be honest about what they're carrying. From that place of safety, real growth becomes possible. A movement toward healing, connection, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging. That is what I hope every person leaves our work with. Experience My path to psychotherapy was rooted in supporting youth, families, and communities through education, research, and frontline care. I hold an undergraduate degree in Childhood and Youth Studies with a minor in Psychology, where I became deeply interested in how people grow, form their identities, and are shaped by the world around them. Over the years, my work with youth, families, and individuals navigating crisis, identity, emotional pain, and relationship challenges led me to this work. Who I work with I provide therapy for individuals, couples, and youth. I warmly welcome and affirm African, Caribbean, and Black-identifying individuals, People of Colour, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent individuals, and anyone seeking a space to feel supported in their full humanity. Areas of support I support people navigating anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety and social anxiety, as well as depression and low mood, cultural identity, relational trauma, and self-esteem. More than just my work Outside of the therapy room, I'm a proud fur mom, a lifelong learner, and someone who finds calm in anything art-related—drawing and colouring especially. My guilty pleasure is unapologetically Bravo (any Housewives franchise will do). Areas of Focus Anxiety and overthinking: the racing thoughts, the people-pleasing, the constant worrying about whether you're doing enough or disappointing others. Depression and low mood: feeling disconnected from yourself, struggling to find joy, or simply trying to make it through the day. Self-esteem, identity, and belonging: questioning your worth, feeling like you have to adapt yourself to fit in, or wondering where you truly belong. Relationship difficulties and relational trauma: repeating the same painful patterns, struggling with boundaries, or feeling unseen in your relationships. Cultural identity and systemic stressors: navigating different expectations, carrying invisible pressures, and trying to make sense of who you are within your family, community, and the broader world. ADHD and Neurodivergence How I Work: Drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Parts Work, Self-Compassion, and Systemic approaches, I tailor our work to what fits you best whether that means understanding the patterns shaping your thoughts, making sense of difficult emotions, or honouring the different parts of yourself that may feel in tension. You are the expert of your own life; my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, care, and compassion as we explore what feels heavy and reconnect with the strengths already within you. I also hold the fuller picture of culture, identity, relationships, and family history all shape how we move through the world, and those parts of your story deserve respect and care.
