Angela is a Registered Social Worker and a Dalhousie University graduate with a master’s degree in social work. Sometimes children and youth do not have the words or language to explain their feelings or understand what their feelings are indicating. This can make communication with adults in their lives difficult, challenging and strained. Sometimes leading to emotional outbursts, and poor choices when communicating with one another. I use a family centered, solution focused approach to help them identify the feelings they are having, how to express them in a way that communicates their needs, is heard and understood and is focused on the creation of strong age or child/youth appropriate communication techniques.
