“I see a lot of one star review complaining about the cost here. I would like to bring some perspective. I've been to their four stores, and have met nearly everyone in the organization, starting with the owners. Allow me to be objective: This is probably the best optician in the province. The quality and refinement of their stores, personnel and products is undeniable. They specialize on designer eye-wear and their lenses are top-quality, Nikon, which make arguably the best cameras in the world. That said don't be surprised at what it costs. I have bought seven pairs of glasses there and went yesterday to test my eyes - which sadly have degenerated during the last 5 years. Eye-am have sophisticated equipment, that goes well-beyond just telling you how good your vision is. They take their craft seriously, making you go through 5 or 6 high-end machines (ie: "Zeiss") before evaluating your vision per-se. They will look at your eye dryness, and many other physical things about your eye-health. I declined the dry eye treatment, even though it seems I need it (too many screens in my life), the good news is that when I saw the cost of the lenses, the price was so eye-wateringly expensive that that problem got fixed on its own😅. All jokes aside - I say expensive, but not overpriced - the value IS THERE. There are some things you cannot skimp on, and eye-care is one of them. “Terrible service! I paid for an exam and tried to receive the results in every possible way. I was pushed a really expensive treatment with little explanation on what that entailed and because I refused it and complained about the way they handled the whole situation, they ignored my requests for the full results of my exam, until they finally did after reading my review here. Not to mention the fact that they diminished the quality of my glasses because they were "you know, made in China" when I simply said I had bought them online. The staff takes time to show you all the options, gives you space and time to make up your mind while clearly explaining benefits of different frames and lenses. “I cannot say enough good things about this place. Dr. Cardin is so kind and knowledgeable she has helped me with dry eye issues in a way I never thought possible. I get perfect lenses (and I have complex prescriptions as my two eyes are very different)every single time. The technicians could not be more helpful ❤️ and made some adjustments so my fit is PERFECT (after a broken jaw my head is also uneven!). “Great experience with the Dr. Nathalie Cardin. She was super sweet, great energy, seems to absolutely love the work she does and most importantly gave me a perfect prescription that my previous optometrist messed up. Christelle was also very sweet and helpful with helping me choose great frames. Only con is, like other reviews, the initial rep does try to push other services. “I didn't have a good experience here. I felt like there was a constant sales pitch to get me to spend lots of money. I felt pressure to immediately book an expensive dry eye treatment, and when I asked about trying contact lenses, I was surprised that it was suggested I pay for trial pairs.. I know contact lens companies give free trial pairs to opticians so clients can try them out before they buy.. To me, they told me I had buy a package of at least 30 pairs to try one out.. Also was told I needed blue light filter glasses, which has no proven benefit according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and other governing bodies.. Following all this, I got a second exam/opinion from a reputable optical business who gave a considerably different assessment of my needs. In fact, the second opinion based on the same tests was that my current prescription was only slightly off and I didn't need to buy multiple pairs of new glasses. I'm not an optometrist/optician, but you have to wonder when one company suggests a big list of new things you have to buy, and another optometrist/optician suggests the opposite.. They were honest, caring and very respectful. I felt like their concern was my comfort and satisfaction, and not in making a quick sale. “What an amazingly nice eye wear shop. So well laid out and decorated. They have vintage motorcycles and all sorts of interesting stuff. Helpful staff well maintained space in new up coming neighbourhood. A must stop in Montreal.”
