“At 59 years old, I've always lived an active lifestyle, despite dealing with intermittent back pain for the past 10–15 years. For most of that time, cortisone injections managed the pain effectively. In early 2025, I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease, and I quickly discovered there wasn't a lot of helpful information available about living with the condition. Over the following year, many of the activities and exercises I enjoyed started causing pain. Eventually, the injections stopped working altogether. After returning from an active vacation down south, I found myself living with constant back pain. It was affecting every aspect of my daily life. Knowing that getting in to see a doctor would take time and that a hospital visit wouldn't solve the underlying issue, I turned to my acupuncturist for pain management. After assessing my situation, she strongly recommended that I see a chiropractor. Since I needed help quickly, I booked an appointment with Dr. Keleny, who was able to see me right away. What impressed me most was the time he took to thoroughly review my medical history and listen to my account of how my symptoms had progressed. He explained my diagnosis in terms I could understand, discussed both the short- and long-term outlook, and reassured me that it was possible to manage my pain while continuing to live an active life. I've now been seeing him for a couple of months—initially twice a week and then weekly. Thanks to his treatment plan and the exercises and stretches he recommended, I'm cycling, swimming, and moving comfortably again. I can get up, sit down, and go about my daily activities without pain. I can pick up my grandchildren, play with them on the floor, and enjoy life without constantly worrying about my back. My pain is not only manageable—it is virtually non-existent. I'll be reducing my visits to monthly going forward. Unfortunately, this type of care isn't covered by medicare, but I can't say enough about the value of having someone knowledgeable who takes the time to explain what's happening and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. For me, it has been worth every penny. I feel like I've gotten my life back. I'm no longer afraid to move, and I genuinely believe I can continue to live a full, active, and high-quality life rather than simply growing old on the sofa.”
