Went to the ER, was immediately greeted, everyone was amazing from start to finish. They GET kids, they anticipate needs ahead of time, they reassure caregivers along the way and genuinely care. The wait wasn't terrible though for that level of service and quality, a longer wait would have been worth it. Can't recommend them highly enough. I've been numerous times as a child and to come full circle with my own, still with the same good memories? Priceless. Love CHEO, always support it and will continue to do so!

We wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Marcos Bettolli and the CHEO pediatric surgery team. Their exceptional care, organization, and kindness turned a stressful day for our family into a smooth and reassuring experience.

Our family's month-long stay on CHEO's 5th floor was deeply marred by the discriminatory behavior of Charge Nurse Natalie and the management that enabled her. From the start, the difference in treatment was obvious. Natalie would shout basic instructions at our family while calmly explaining the same things to others. She met our questions with eye-rolls and sighs, and performed routine tasks for us with a reluctance she never showed other families. Things escalated after we reported her behavior to the floor managers, who dismissed our concerns in under three minutes. Emboldened by this, Natalie publicly retaliated. She loudly announced to the entire nursing station that we were "high-maintenance parents" simply for asking for pain medication for our crying child, sarcastically adding, "unless you want to file another complaint?" The retaliation then became part of our daily reality. Our call bells would go unanswered for 45+ minutes while neighboring rooms received instant responses. Our child's medication schedule was mysteriously and consistently delayed, and Natalie began holding whispered conversations with colleagues while staring pointedly at our room. The most chilling part? We learned from hospital volunteers that multiple families of color have filed similar complaints about Natalie over the years. All were buried by management. This is not a one-time incident; it's a protected pattern. CHEO's administration has allowed this toxic behavior to continue for years, failing in its duty to provide a safe and equitable environment for all families. We share our story as a warning. No child should suffer due to a nurse's prejudice, and no parent should be punished for advocating for their care.

During a stay on the inpatient unit at CHEO, the charge nurse, Natalie, left us feeling disrespected, dismissed, and deeply uneasy. Throughout the stay, every interaction with her felt like a battle. She consistently brushed us off, spoke in a condescending tone, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience. What made this even more troubling was the noticeable difference in how she interacted with white patients. With them, she spoke in a normal, friendly tone, which only added to our feeling of being treated unfairly. For instance, when we asked Natalie for help with some medical pumps that were disrupting our sleep, Natalie blatantly dismissed our concerns. Before we could even ask a follow-up question, she turned around and sarcastically said, "You’re welcome." We were stunned. This kind of behavior was completely unexpected from someone in her position, especially at a place like CHEO, where we assumed compassion and professionalism would be the top priority. As parents already under immense stress with a sick child and very little sleep, the last thing we needed was an employee that took the opportunity to antagonize us, simply for asking for help. This experience has left us deeply disappointed in CHEO, and we strongly urge the hospital to address this issue. No family should ever have to endure this kind of treatment during such a vulnerable time.

You are the best, thank you so much for the great care you gave me on Saturday, thank you to the doctors, who put my daughter's arm in a cast, all the nurses, and the X-ray professionals, the people who assisted me to register her and the people who called me to say I was going to be seen. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

I come in with a mask, they make me put my hands on the mask on my face to remove it and put the same germs on the new mask I’m putting on my face. Can someone explain to me the logic behind this. I get the financial aspect of it. They are paying very little for the mask and charging OHIP 100x more but is that all it is. Because exposing people while I change my mask, I think is very irresponsible just for money.

I think that if CHEO has its name attached to the dental clinic, which is private, they may want to put some energy in to how it is operating. Discrimination, apathy, etc, plus an audit might be beneficial. All patients should be treated the same, with respect, dignity, care, etc. The way the financial side of the office works should also be transparent and consistent. When I call someone in charge I should get the same answer from the day to day employees.

Being an out of towner, my experience at CHEO was by far the best hospital experience I had ever had. Thank you to everyone who was involved with our stay with my 4 yr old, as we were there Christmas Eve to Christmas Day. Thank you so much!
